ImageI am wondering if anyone here knows if there is a forum out there that deals with B-3's and is comfortable like this forum I checked out some and did not feel at home.
I am not a B3 player I own one and decided that since my kids are older and mostly not at home I am taking back my downstairs ( it was like the 70's show and I was not welcome there)
So I have been busy putting the old band gear back out, and one piece of my collection is a B3, I do not have the Leslie :( . This particular piece was from the Frampton Comes Alive Tour. you can see it here on this youtube clip of the show @ 1:33 not being played but on the right if you watch the whole thing it gets some air time
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OOnGUBk6QO0
I was going to fire it up but I could not find my Hammond Oil and the cups were dry so I ordered some and will have to wait till the oil gets here. Some gut shots for your viewing pleasure.,

It's been a helluva long time since I've seen the inside of a tone-wheel Hammond, at least three decades!

Yours seems to be in pretty nice shape, a real survivor. All you need now is a 122 or 147 Leslie......

Nice, mud. Looks to be a great project for heaps of fun. Love the sound of those Hammonds. There was a B3 with a Leslie that was a fixture in the studios I worked in. I too am not a player per se, but that didn't stop me from staying after work to dabble with my 18 year old fingers on the keys while I had the chance. Such a sound that was too tempting to resist, alongside the grand piano that also graced the space as in many studios.

As for forums, I did a search under forums for B3 organ and that turned up some forum sites as I'm sure Hammond will also, but I'm sure you already know that.

Meanwhile, congrats on taking back the man cave.
Cheers!

Pretty cool B-3 you have there. 8) I know what you mean about some forums. They can be closed off to newbies and like "old boy networks," sometimes.

I found a "Baby B3," a Hammond M3 on Craigslist a couple of years ago for about $75. Wifey was THRILLED when I she came home and found that in the living room.... Not. Anyway, I, too, ordered some Hammond Tone Wheel Oil, let it do it's thing, and enjoyed it for a while. It was STILL not appreciated by the boss. I was talking with a buddy about it one day, and he insisted that he had to have it, so now it's at his house. I gave him the organ and a Fender Mustang I amp that he uses way more than the organ, and I got his Epiphone 56 Les Paul Goldtop. Hey, he made the deal, not me.

Good deal, schuny1. Others might have traded the wife and kept the organ. And no! I'm not going to go there.

Thanks, my oil showed up, and today I am letting it sit with the oil filled in it proper spots,

This cup oils the Run Motor' and the Chorus Vibrato Scanner using a wick to gravity feed them

This fills the trough that feeds the wicks to all the pourus brass bearings and the drive shaft within the tone generator ImageI am not pulling back the felt unless there is a problem.
This is the other end of the trough where it feeds the start up moter

I'll move the drive shaft by hand every once in a while today, and will most likely turn it on towards the evening

If the organ has been sitting unattended and unused for some length of time you might want to let that oil permeate overnight before switching it on. Continue rotating the shaft periodically by hand.

+1

I think that's the smart course of action.
