Don Buchla modular synth pioneer who is credited by Robert Moog as having an earlier concept of a modular electronic instrument, having released his in 1963 (same as Moog), has died September 14, 2016 at the age of 79yrs.

He too had a stint with CBS Musical Instruments. It didn't work out though. Building Grateful Dead's legendary sound system with Owsley Stanley was a success, however.
