I went to the thrift store today, and they had a Squier Bronco bass with a padded Levy's hybrid case and 3 cables for $95.25.

The only problem with the bass was that the input fell into the pg. I pulled the guard and put it back. It sounds fantastic and is so comfortable to play. The SN tells me it was made in 03. I'm very satisfied and we've been using it to jam all day. The setup is dead on too. 8)

Very cool. We all started somewhere.

I just find it odd that the pickup is a Stratocaster pickup.

Yeah, that's the odd thing about that bass. The Music Masters (I think that's the model) from the 70's had a guitar pick up in it, too. I think this bass is sort of a copy of it. It's a cool bass, I think, especially if your main instrument is a guitar. The sizes are pretty close to together. That's a great find. 8)

Never realized how much fun bass is. I may make a dream pop album once I get my computer and mic situation under control.

I'm aiming for a Smiths/Mac DeMarco type sound. I have too many ideas to count at this point. I want to make a solid recording come to fruition.

I think I may paint the headstock a matching red to the body, then paint the Squier logo back on in gold, similar to my Stratocaster. I wonder if I can get an anodized gold pg for this. I already swapped the knobs off the old Kay onto this thing. I felt like the chrome dome knobs look better on that gaudy old thing lol

I am currently looking for a cheap bass myself, just to figure it out. It'll be FUN!

Enjoy the ride with the Bronco, James. Great deal for another guitar that found a home. :D

I think there's a riff there somewhere.

I got a Samick PJ bass for $50 off Craig's List. Very nice for this price. Really, it's about the same as the Squire with a different headstock and Samick branding. Since almost no one knows about this brand, or that it is almost identical to Squires that go for much more, it's a good cheap play around with first bass. I haven't done much with mine yet, but it's there when I get around to that!

:)

I remember the Samicks way back in the day. They also build instruments for Epiphone and such. Chances are, if you see a bass or guitar made in Korea from the past 30 years, it was probably made by them.

Check this out, you might be in luck: http://www.wdmusic.com/pickguard_br_5600.html It says for the Fender Bronco bass, so not sure if it's the same specs as the Squier version. You could call them, though. They have all kinds of colors there.
