I know some of the amps have gone up in price the past year or so.

I saw a short video about the new American Professional line from local Chandler, AZ independent guitar store owner Phillip McKnight (the Know Your Gear guy on YouTube) earlier this week but that's all I have seen.

I liked the 2012-2016 American Standard line so much that I ended up owning four of them, two Strats and two Teles. Starting from the left... 2012 American Standard Tele, 2013 Surf/Sea Foam Green Strat, 2015 HSS Shawbucker Strat and 2015 Special Run Surf/Sea Foam Green Rosewood neck Tele.

I'll certainly give the American Professionals a try but these four are going to be hard to displace.

John

I just restrung my 2013 Am Std strat for Sunday night's gig. Put on some new strings, tuned it and plugged it into my small Orange amp just to strum and stretch the strings a little bit. Strummed some vigorous Hendrix rythm stuff, soloed a bit...

What a GREAT guitar.

If the series does indeed get discontinued, I'll make sure I buy replacements for the parts no longer available (I was thinking particularly about the 2-point bridge and saddles)... And keep it.

Aside from the quality and playability, this guitar and me have done wonderful things together in these few years and I love it and can't think of a single detail that I'd have changed on it.

She's a beauty, Mud. Love that wood grain pattern. Is she a Sierra Sunburst with a Rosewood fretboard?

Who are you trying to kid? If it likely would make those who own Fender's debts more money than staying the course, they certainly would. They don't have a choice. Venture capitalists consider five years long term. They're not in it for a stable company ten or twenty years down the road. Maximize short term profits, sell, and move on.

Grrrrrr stop reminding me of what a ruined world we live in.

When the Am. Std. series is gone, the new series should take it's place pretty well. I'm not seeing to many Am. Std. basses available on line anymore.

Really surprised that Fender still don't have anything up about the Professional series. It was the same with the Elites last year, you'd think they'd announce t before the stores. :?:

I guess they're giving the stores time to clear out the remaining Am. Std. stock.

Assuming the Anderton's descriptions will be similar for the U.S. market, here's what I see:
- Significant price increase (downer). It appears these might be pricier than the Elite series
- The awful mint green pickguard is what's available for 3 tone (700), not parchment (downer)
- If pics are any indication, the RW boards keep getting lighter and uglier. Come on (downer)
- Elite cases (upper)
- Tone bleed circuitry (upper)
- V-Mod pups. This is better than Fat 50's? No (downer)
- Narrow higher frets, different neck profile. Don't know. Jury's out.
Summation - I'm glad I bought a 2014 American Standard Strat. If there's any left, better pick one up. Fender has already missed holiday sales. I don't understand that marketing scheme (except for the discounted MIA Standards if any left). I feel better. They did not disappoint my original purchase.
