“Invention, my dear friends, is 93% perspiration, 6% electricity, 4% evaporation, and 2% butterscotch ripple.” (“Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory”)

Gene (aka Jerome Silberman) was one of the funniest actors to me.

His bits in Blazing Saddles and Young Frankenstein are priceless !

Mrs. LMN and I just watched 'The Producers' Friday night (1st time she'd seen it)

Thanks for the Movies !!

R.I.P.

cheers!

He didn't do too bad opposite Richard Pryor in "The Silver Streak" either.

(remember his blackface shtick at the train station?)

Yea, Silver Streak was killer...

One of the best bits in Young Frankenstein was when Wilder and Peter Boyle did 'Putting on the Ritz' before the Royal Academy... this was totally ad-libbed in rehearsal by Wilder/Boyle.

Mel Brooks was furious and emphatic that it wasn't being added to the script/movie !

They argued over it for days until Gene Wilder threatened to quit the film if it wasn't included and Brooks finally conceded.

In a much later interview, Mel Brooks agreed it was the funniest bit in the film.

cheers!

My favorite scene I like he did, was in Young Frankenstein, when he tells them not to open the door when he goes into the room with the monster. RIP Gene Wilder.

weirdest scene- in woody allen's "everything you always wanted to know about sex"

love him in pretty much everything I saw him in, but most memorable for me was his work with mel brooks.

rip gene- you always brought a smile to my face.

One of the first comedic actors I recognized as genius, I couldn't wait to see his movies when they came out and would beg on Sat. mornings for my father to take my siblings and I wherever they were playing.
Thanks for the memories.

Great timing and dramatic skills that amounted to subtle and distinct expressions. A true professional.

The stage lights dimmed when you left us, Gene; but, they will always shine for you and your performances.

He seemed like a truly kind and sweet person, and a very funny man.

One painful curse of growing older is watching all the talented and beautiful people we love ( both personal friends and those in entertainment that we loved vicariously through their work) pass away.

I will always remember watching Blazing Saddles in a movie theater with my dad at 10 years old, I thought the fart scene was the most hilarious thing I ever saw... Its still pretty funny
