Thanks, Marky. I like the originality and the mix so much that we downloaded it into our playlist. I don’t usually prefer this genre; but, I also don’t want to miss out on good material.

My job required me to flex with anything thrown my way. Today, I’ll gather examples that may stimulate my creativity and/or keep me current. Therefore, I’ve learned to give songs a decent shot (except for slipshod stuffy choral music). and this one gets a pass where, for me, the uptempo remix didn’t. I believe (as Bo Diddley expressed to his son) that if you want to be good at music playing or recording you need to listen to everything (or else you’ll not have your own identity or understand another’s).

Thanks, for posting.

Good chillin’ song. :D

Thanks, Marky and Rollie.

Great seque, SBLS. Such a simple song; but, such awesome impact. Still relative in this day and age IMHO. :D

One of my faves:

Great songs, Rollie and FSB. Those oldies brought back some great memories and I haven't thought of those songs in a long, long time. It was really good to hear them again and, I agree, they are still very relevant. :)

Doobies and Chicago. Two awesome groups. Thanks, Rollie.

Man, I am getting old. I get today’s music, like some, and hate the rest. But, as much as I try, with exception for the rare gem of today, I never thought I’d follow in others’ footsteps to say, “Music was better in the past”. Better? Well, what is better? I guess we could say that groups of yesterday had more depth and grew over time. They were all unique giving us a variety to choose from, and their music was more about ideas and presentation, less about technology and impersonation. I don’t think there is an easy answer to define what makes today’s music less appealing to some, perhaps the vibe, the times, or the writing and the performance. For me, it just is.

Today we have movies coming from the same people that have mediocre television shows. They are produced and shot in a similar fashion. Why? Because contracts make it cheaper and the public pays the same to buy into it. Now the decent movie can demand a blockbuster billboard. Actresses and actors on the red carpet were trained accomplished performers first and photo shots second. Nowadays, it’s like a fancy cover on a terrible video tape. Funny. When I was a kid they would throw popcorn at that screen, and crap music would stay in that record bin to be picked up and destroyed, or at least, heavily discounted.

Tools have opened doors, but who is behind the door is just as important as the room being used. Industry has it’s way of capitalizing on it, and if it means dumbing down, removing competition, cutting costs, monopoly, and repackaging, it will be reflected in the music. I think we are reaping those qualities now. IYHO that may not be the case.

Bands like the Doobies, Chicago, and the like are surviving because they can. Original members of bands and individual legends are being lost as we speak, you might want to catch them if you can because that vibe may never come again. There is a reason why they are called Supergroups.

Indonesia’s answer to The Tower Of Power, this is dedicated to Chicago’s fan Rollie (aka SBLS):

And that’s how the 70s rolled.

FSB :D
Incidentally, The Rollie’s appear to have been very popular in that part of the world. This one is here. :D
