Preston Hubbard, bassist for The Fabulous Thunderbirds and Roomful of Blues has passed away today, August 17, 2016 in St. Louis, Mo. He was one of my favorite players and an inspiration for me since the late 1970's. He will be sorely missed.

Just found out. Such a loss. One of the very best blues bassmen ever.

Thanks for the link linnin! I heard the news on FB, it's everywhere there but this is the first article I've seen.
American Blues Scene Magazine was created by a guy in my area, (Columbia, Mo) named Matt Marshall. He used to travel some with a band I was in a few years ago.

Dang. It.

He is in my Top 10 list of bassists...saw him with the T-Birds multiple times...I never thought the criticism he received for replacing Keith Ferguson was fair...they were both amazing forces of nature.

The Texas and Rhode Island flags should be half-mast for a week.

He was high on my list too. Got to open for the Tbirds in the 80's an he was with them. Such a shame but he has been in poor health for many years.
