Yeah. Barret-Jackson beauties to be sure.

I wonder how many electric cars will be collectables. I think the first ones may be (especially the limited or custom models); but, when mass production kicks in amongst a few providers, I think those will not be so valuable in whatever shape. Planned obsolescence is likely to take it's toll, perhaps, with recycling planned or extinction. They probably won't hold up in the long run, and as they evolve they won't have the parts base as the Classics do.

Besides, other vehicles (like the aero car amongst others) will be limited and they will bring a higher bid when the gavel hits. IMHO.

Reportedly, the skies are mapped out already for aero cars and the sort. Didn't Uber announce that was part of their business plan? I think they did.

One of my favourite things:

Sailing - America's Cup

I miss the days and boats with Connors and his challengers though. Those boats were under constant development that made the chase grow with the sport. That has been set aside for new boats and development.

The catamarans are cool and they require a different athlete, but fewer sailors and fans are familiar with the technology and experience so it's a whole different ball game, and it has a different vibe.

Still good to watch though, especially having worked with TV New Zealand whose crew were fanatical about sailing, my crewing a 95 foot ketch, and having the opportunity to walk the deck of former Canada 1. :D

It looks as if the Kiwis will pull this off. Congrats to the winner whoever wraps it up.

Is it because they don't keep anything even close to original like that sweet Chevelle of yours? If so, I know what you mean. Especially because they prefer to work on classic cars that IMO should be restored. If they want to go crazy with custom work, they should do it on a new car and not ruin cars that are in diminishing supply. But that's just my opinion.

I share that opinion. There are plenty of cars (old, classic, late-model, whatever) that are simply too far gone to fully restore and in those cases, it makes sense to make what one can out of them. But too many times I've seen them take outstanding candidates for a full resto and just trash the crap out of them. And I think it's significant that their "custom" rides aren't ever seen on the auction blocks at the premier houses like Jackson-Barrett and Mecum.
