The Yardbirds Story.

What an excellent band documentary. I was not a Beatles fan till about '67. But, I remember Swingin' England in '65 when I visited, I remember going to see Blow Up when it debuted, and I experienced the immense influence the Yardbirds had in 'Frisco in the 60s. Gawsh I'm old. Thanks again for the post, Paul. :D

That's pretty cool you were able to see that back in the day when it actually happened. 8) That scene and time period is a huge influence on me, even though I wasn't born until 1971. At least there's archives and music that still exists. You can find all kinds of things like this on YouTube. The BBC made a bunch of documentary films about all kinds of music and culture events. You don't typically see this on US television, unless it happens to be on a station like Ovation, sometimes PBS will play something like that. There use to be other channels, but they're gone now, or play crappy reality TV dramas like A&E or Bravo do these days.

Between my personal travels and my family association I was so fortunate to have enjoyed such a timely variety of music first hand in some of the hot spots of the sixties. I'm know others here have similar experiences, Paul.

One of my favourite memories is hearing and seeing individuals and groups singing accapela on the street corners of Motor City waiting to be discovered. It was one of those "You had to be there to believe it" moments. I can only imagine earlier doo wop talent doing the same in yesteryear.

That being said, as with others, music has shaped me in many ways, socially, spiritually, sensually, creatively, and in others ways. I won't go into the white sport coat, Bogie cut and ducktails, continental and thin ties, Cuban heels, Beatles' half belt jacket, Nehru coat, paisley shirt and goofy bell bottoms, my long hair with and without a perm along with my solid and/or gradient coloured shades. Nope! I won't mention any of it.
I feel that it all was and is a cultural experience that becomes even better understood first hand. If you live or hang out in a predominant music area that historically is noted for contributing to a genre then you will know what I mean. It doesn't mean the music can't be felt, learned, or enjoyed elsewhere . . . only that it is a different application in many cases. Thankfully, those with close contact have shared Classical, the Blues, Jazz, Country, Surf, Rock, Rap (not suitable to binaural recordings LOL), and more from their neighbourhoods to ours.

Most of all, music history can be as interesting and, at times, more interesting than the composition. Music history can open many doors for song writing and performance. One thing for sure - It all goes together like a recipe for enjoyment. IMHO.

So I encourage the use of this recipe whenever you can. Add your own ingredients, and maybe make a recipe of your own. :D

I'm not in Dr.Phil's fan club, but he has New England Patriots' Aaron Hernandez's fiancé questioning his reported suicide. Pretty interesting.

I'm not a Dr. Phil fan either but my son records all of them and then we pick and choose the ones we want to watch. That episode does sound interesting. Thanks for the tip. :D
