I just watched the last episode of Final season 6 of The Vikings. Awesome production.

I remember going to the movies and getting excited to see Kirk Douglas jump across oars in 1958’s The Vikings. I thought Kirk did a great job, and at the age of 11 it held my attention. Maybe, it was because of the outstanding Technicolor.

History Channel’s recent version blows the ‘58 ship outa the water though. IMHO. Maybe, because it was void of the Technicolor. Adding to that there are far more hours of production where each episode was designed to hold attention. It’s not for lack of fans that the show comes to an end. Cost is a factor, and rumour has it that a spin-off is in the works. Netflix is the whisper.

The original’s supporting actors, the writing, and the attention to accents with the dialogue takes it out of tinsel town’s missing formula. The lead actors are excellent in both pictures; but, watching both gives different vibes of different show biz eras and, as with previous movies, acting evolved with different expertise. It should be noted that direction too has evolved, and tools made available to writers, producers, and directors support ideas and execution of those creative juices. Sometimes, a Go-Go dancer doesn’t fit the period dance, but, if that’s all you have fords harem dancer that’s what the audience gets. Don’t get me wrong I liked Go-Go dancers.
Still, awards, being what they are, will always have that tainted Grammy criticism. Notably, the Tom foolery in awards’ handouts is finally being recognized for what it is (or isn’t). To simplify my thoughts on those deserving artists (like those from The Vikings and GOT) and others, and how and why they are pushed aside, perhaps, a special award can be given to those who created the controversial and biased commotion. Maybe, a best actor award with a gift bag and a plane ticket should go to the offenders in charge.? :P
Mind you, while good artists crave
awards to make them great, great artists, with or without that buffed up token, hopefully, know they’re great. They’ll feel that with every performance from those who count.

Make it your own, and that in itself will be great.
Just sayin’.
