I was watching some residents in Eastern Canada that have lost power at home because of storms. Extended outages are also plaguing many in California because of wildfires including those caused by poor electrical power management.

While it can be argued that climate change or infrastructure is the major culprit. we do know insurance companies are pulling out and that higher winds and a variety of forests are prevalent elsewhere. Some man made causes and some historical natural causes give us those fires around the globe. There are, of course, exceptions, population being one, that manage to avoid disasters from common sense. Whichever the reasons, it’s hard to get a consensus that is fair and equal with a media driven report.

My father and I saw the start of a forest fire that was quickly put out by forest rangers upon our report that we saw a Douglas Fir tree explode from a roadside bottle and sunshine. Was it the dry summer tinder or the litter bug that started the fire? Your call.

Here’s one look at California and a bad situation that we here in Canada are well aware of being that we have, for the most part, mostly dependable
government run and/or heavily regulated power that others on the sideline are anxious to get their grubby hands on,

https://www.latimes.com/business/la-fi- ... story.html

But back to those without power. I’m seeing videos of many affected folks who depend on home and business generators to get them through the tough times.

I hope the electric answer to clean power and clean environment doesn’t stop the flow of fossil fuel to those in need. Snow capped and smokey skies aren’t helping the solar panels either.

Fire trucks and first responders with fossil fuel versus electric? That’s a no brainer as is getting outa Dodge away from disasters.

This reminds me of when, in my youth, I sold my pride and joy limited edition British train set to a National Model Railroad Association enthusiast. The transformer used batteries that were no longer readily available. Things later changed with the batteries, and AC/DC transformers becoming
available.
As Smokey says, “Only you can stop forest fires.”

FSB

Thoughts and best wishes for a speedy recovery to all those affected.

This:

. . . and if ya have to warm up the car for any length of time in that 40 plus or minus below weather you might want to install one of those cool old smelly and dangerous gas heaters from a vintage Volkswagen.
That might be the only answer.
