DETROIT
With family there before and during the ‘67 riots, I visited three years earlier when Motown literally rocked. I had a great time, and yet the atmosphere was beginning to be tense. Our return trip in ‘81 was suddenly cut short to one day for similar reasons. People were obviously hurting, the danger presented itself, our welcome had faded and, unfortunately, I never got the opportunity to show the better part of Detroit that I had once known and appreciated.

This movie is not for everyone. It is disturbing and great at the same time. IMHO Much like Motor City, some will love it, some will hate it, some will feel both love and hate. Lessons are there for the taking. It is what it is; but, for those of us who have experienced the best and worst of this city it is Detroit.

Catch it if you can.

I’m still watching the manhunt for two fugitives who have avoided the authorities for the better part of a week. The tactical force has now moved 4 hours southwest to a different community of 464 inhabitants.

It has now been reported that the two suspects may have been seen rummaging for food in the community dump; but, nothing is certain as media is keeping quiet about details to protect those on the hunt. Some say the original search continues. Maybe, it will soon come to an end. Maybe not. Pretty dark out there.

Any updates?

We're watching some basketball highlights on YT.

Still no success with the manhunt, Marky.

The last I heard is they are going back to concentrating at their original location. 500 homes have been checked.

Questions have arisen why police choppers and pilots were not available and why civilian pilots are being used. It has something to do with familiarity of the land as opposed to the familiarity of evading shots and their presently doing a search versus a hunt with tactics, experience, and available technology that can be had. This is the home of adventurous skilled bush pilots in all kinds of weather and difficult territory so it has some merit. Still, tools of the trade, including night flying surveillance, are pretty hard to beat.

Apparently, more civilians are being recruited now, and many are very capable in that area. Pretty interesting though. Lots of all terrain vehicles. That includes many beefed up ATV quads. Maybe, a horse and bounty hunter is missing from the posse (although, every Mountie AFAIK traditionally has horse experience).

My thought is they might be wearing the kids down with hunger and needs, so as to come to a peaceful solution. The commotion, cottages, and hunting dwellings don’t support that theory, however. They have plenty of options to hunker down up there; but, would they and where? Just having them hemmed in though, could have the same effect if the kids haven’t escaped the manhunt.

The smaller of the two communities is still on alert and shaken even though the police have reduced their foot print there. The locals are active in patrolling the area.

Time will tell.
