CFL

Best in the East versus
Best in the West

Hamilton Ti-Cats 23
lost their QB early
vs Winnipeg Blue Bombers 15
with the best QB in the league this year
Result: Same standings points. :D
These two teams are predicted by sportscasters for the Grey Cup.

I’m watching a report showing a blown out garage door hurled across a street from it’s attached Montreal house. An electric car (Kona) neither plugged in nor charging suddenly blew up. Fortunately, no one was injured. Hyundai is investigating.

Good thing it wasn’t on the road in traffic.

Note:
Not just electric cars explode. In the 70s an explosion close to work shook our studios when someone at a gas station working with a battery blew out their door. This can happen when incorrectly charging frozen batteries as well. We used to remove the caps to release gas pressure and we’d connect the ground to the vehicle instead of the battery back then.

The problem now, as in this Montreal case, is electric car batteries vary, are larger, and the dangers are different. Both good and bad. IMHO

I also watched an autonomous (self driving) vehicle documentary. A lot of stuff happening in Arizona and elsewhere. Disengagements from manufacturers have tested (2016) to be 1 in 2 or 3 miles (Bosch 0.68 miles) to 1 in 5000+ miles (Waymo). GM was 1 in 54.7 miles and Tesla 1 in 2.9 miles for example.

There are many other considerations; however. Heavy duty commercial trucks have been outfitted to the hilt with cameras and more for a profit driven purpose. They may be consigned or restricted to specific routes to complement their build. Hardly your driveway vehicle; although, I doubt we’ll see those semis traveling our remote northern ice roads of frozen Manitoba lakes soon. We’ll probably see a corrected 737 Max leftover bush plane before that happens.

Wow, that's something. An electric car with a combustible engine/battery. Glad no one was injured.

Here in Manitoba we are all watching the manhunt for two teenagers in prime hunting territory which is up north by the polar bears, dense forest and bog, bug infested, and basically rough country with fast changing weather patterns. It is the peak of biting sandfly season.

They are wanted for second degree murder of a Canadian, and are suspected of a double murder of a couple (one American and her Australian boyfriend whose father is a police chief down under and has come to help). All were on the road in northern BC in camping country. Vehicles (evidence) have been burnt. The last (stolen from the Canadian murdered) was found torched in the search area of Manitoba.

At first it appeared that the Vancouver Island kids were simply missing in BC . Later it changed from a missing persons search to a manhunt across four provinces. The kids got a head start.

The small community of Gillam has 1265 locals on edge and locked down where most don't even normally lock their doors. People can’t or won’t work. Even the mayor is shaken. There are plenty of hunting structures to hide in. The gamers are thought to be dangerous survivalists, and it is unknown if they have left the area or whether they are still in the vicinity with sparsely populated northern Ontario next door, or hiding in other areas of concern.

The difficulty is the many ways in and out (some of which are not documented). If they take the river system they’ll find rapids and waterfalls. Some think they are still in the vicinity; but, others think they may have been taken out of there by a possible third party. Although, I can’t say if it applies, I have seen a northern train stop, drop and pickup travellers (like fishermen and hunters and maybe a canoe) along the remote rail line so this is also disconcerting. I also saw a big money craps game on that same train car floor, but that was many years ago. Times and the rail company have changed. It’s still wild territory though, and cops searched the train up there.

International support, Mounties, drones, dogs, hunters, trappers, guides, profile experts, survival
experts, the Cree Nation, choppers, the military, and even a capable Hercules from the air base are involved.

Search and rescue and adventurous bush pilots are typical around here. Manhunts like this in Canada are not often to the extent like our brothers have in the States. Fortunately, we share that resource as well.

However, even with the many tips for close to a week that have come in, nothing so far.

Here in Canada we act first and talk later. Information often comes later than sooner. International reporters have shown up in the small normally peaceful town. A lot of times the media here is like the navy. “Loose lips sink ships”. A little different than American media coverage. So we wait.

I only hope that no one gets hurt.

I’m still watching the manhunt for two fugitives who have avoided the authorities for the better part of a week. The tactical force has now moved 4 hours southwest to a different community of 464 inhabitants.

It has now been reported that the two suspects may have been seen rummaging for food in the community dump; but, nothing is certain as media is keeping quiet about details to protect those on the hunt. Some say the original search continues. Maybe, it will soon come to an end. Maybe not. Pretty dark out there.
