I now have a better appreciation for Joe whom I missed the last time he was here in town. I always thought he was in that premium category, and his resume supports it.

What really makes him stand out for me is he has taken SRV's "dabbling" with the swing/big band sound and taken it to the next level incorporating it with the Blues. It's a nice fusion that is a breath of fresh air for a style that I didn't really get into until the mid-90s, and still from time to time gets a little old.

I’m watching a little college football.
VA Tech 24 Florida State 3

But what gets me is the preseason AP Top 10 Rankings.

Crimson Tide #1 beat Louisville 51-14
(Good start Mr. Nylon. Jello all around.)

Georgia #3 beat Austin PEAY 45-0

Ohio State #5 beat Oregon State 77-31

Seriously? 77?
Isn’t that basketball score?

Actually, since 1940 100 points by a college are a rarity.

77points? Phtt! That’s nothing.
1916 Georgia Tech over Cumberland.
222 to 0
I wonder if there was any money on that game.

I’m thinking those refs were paid off because the penalties or lack of must have been crazy.

Outstanding, Paul. Great selection. My drums but, unfortunately for me, not my skills. Thanks, for your post. Especially appreciated since I have some of their recordings, and I missed Elvin by a few days when I got to England in ‘65.

I bet a lot of calories were burnt on that stage. hahaha. :P

I’m watching a BBC story about the Peace Diamond found by a preacher last March. It’s one of the world’s largest, a 709 carat uncut gem auctioned off for $6,5 million.

The government took control and most of the money, and development of the poor Sierra Leone village was promised $1 million. They were to get a school where they have no trained teachers, a road, a hospital, water, electricity, food, and other essentials. Those promises have yet to be kept.

Seems I’ve heard this story before.

Three CFL back to back Labor Day rematches televised back to back. Mrs. FSB decided to visit her aunt, and that leaves me at home to take in the grudge match games. Darn!
Hamilton Tiger Cats in Toronto to play the Argonauts again. Oskie Wee Wee. Ti-Cats 2 for 2 to make a tie with Ottawa for 1st. place in the east.

Now a rematch with the Saskatchewan Roughriders in Winnipeg to play the Blue Bombers (annual game is jokingly called the Banjo Bowl after Deliverance), and next the Calgary Stampeders take to Edmonton to play the Eskimos.

Here’s how rough the CFL is. One Bomber left on a gurney for the hospital after a tackle held his arms from softening the fall and his head and neck bounced head first. The older lineman just got an accidental fist in the face and is being taken off the field to get a concussion checkout. :o Our players aren’t as big, with exceptions, as the NFL overall. Consequently, they have been said to have more speed and many of the guys have experience on both sides of the border. Those receivers say, when they get hit, instead of a ton of steel hitting you it’s more like a locomotive at full speed. That could also be because small athletic receivers are more welcomed up here too as the NFL is increasingly leaning towards taller receivers, understandably based on statistics and one hand catches, releasing other great players for our league. I can see both sides after all, I’m 5’ 9” and I wouldn’t want 300 pounds plus on top of me.
Both great but very different leagues. I love ‘em all. This year a local HS football team got a million dollar field and facilities. The idea is to develop a better HS program across country, and an incentive for education, which adds to a thriving college league later. It’s paying off in the CFL now as I know the same has been in place big time for some time in the USA. America's hockey program is a similar transition that has worked well.

Think your sport is a favourite? You might be surprised with this questionable top ten listing:

Yeah. The villagers look to be nice people too. I’m glad that they are getting well deserved international support and press. We have quite a few immigrants from Sierra Leone where Ebola is a concern. They are happy go lucky to be here, and they do a lot for the community. Many are trained hospital staff or care workers (amongst other jobs).

Meanwhile, it’s 49ers and Vikings on the TV. I have to stop watching football or Mrs. FSB will send me to the field down the street. Like that’s gonna happen. I’m the man in the house! Unless she changes her mind and has the remote.
