That's a really good movie, Glenn.

I'm watching Lost In Space. It's pretty lame IMO compared to the original series but I'm trying it.

Some of the remakes just didn't do well from the original series. The "Fugitive" was considered to be one of the best from TV series, to a movie. I'd have to agree with that myself.
I felt the same about Lost In Space, Marky. I loved the old series.

I have to agree with you Glenn that some of those remakes don’t have the same vibe as the original TV series.

It could be the writing or the directing, the interpretation, maybe the fact that the actors are better or worse or a little of both, or the fact that we connect to the original actors more than the new. It may be that giving the look an update to a more modern time takes the charm away of being camp for the times, even if goofy then when we were more accepting. Stir all that together, and it gets kinda messy. It may be none or all of these reasons. Actors that made original shows such as Clint Eastwood, and Perry Mason, for example, definitely become a factor. Although, even Captain Kirk and Spock, and James Bond can be successfully replaced. I know. Blasphemy, right?

I was taught a long time ago that a chosen celebrity in front of a blank wall beats a lesser performer in front of a magnificent set.

At the momebt my wife has on one of those bachelor shows, and I think the ones that came before or are about to come are all Phtt!

He lives in Newport, RI, where I live, now. I haven't run into him, but I've heard he's been to a few places that I have been around.

That’s pretty cool. I wonder where his cars are. Maybe, you’ll get to meet him, Paul.

Some years ago, I heard Leno took a ferry to Vancouver Island, and if I recall correctly, he took his motorcycle on the ferry. I do know he was very approachable, and it was said that he mingled with the tourists and locals on the trip.

That's very cool, Paul. I've heard that he is pretty standoffish so don't feel bad if he won't shake your hand. But, if you see him, say hey from Marky in AZ.

I believe you may be right there, Marky. Celebrities often change in their association with the public. I think it depends on the situation. Similar to R.I., I would guess, celebrities can often be more relaxed in high tourism areas where other celebrities hang out. Locals get to know the routine.

I know there will always be folks who are relentless for autographs or photos, but many locals will give the talent some space and treat them as if they were any stranger with respect for their privacy, but still with admiration. Simply asking if it would be alright to invade their space gets you a long ways sometimes or let them approach you. Basically, the paparazzi approach is usually frowned upon.

But, just like some fans, some celebs can be jerks. I could give you a list of past examples , but it’s much smaller than the good ones. Here’s a tip: usually the ones on the way up at the almost a star level are the worst. The real stars have been thorough it all, are pretty savvy, and generally good about it. Others are like junkyard dogs, mostly because they’ve had a bad experience. If they’re having ice cream (and signing a book hahaha) it’s probably a good time to approach. If they’re having steak and champagne, or talking to friends or business associates, probably not. If they’re having a hot dog and a beer I say go for it.
Good Luck, Paul.
Looking forward to your Leno pic. :D
1 point if you just get him
2 points if he’s on a boat
3 points if he’s in a hot car
4 points if you’re in the photo
5 points if you and Jenn are in the shot

There's is a couple of classic car museums here, so I have a feeling he's involved with that on some level, or another, since he's into that. I'll bet he owns some of the cars displayed there. I'm actually used to dealing with celebrities, since I've worked with a few musicians that were in famous bands, and my girlfriend knows a lot of people like that. I just treat people like anyone else, and try to give them space, and if the they feel like being friendly, or talkative, cool. This is a famous summer resort area, so you'll occasionally spot people from time to time, especially during the season. I've spotted Lady Gaga here a couple of years ago.

Sounds like you and Jenn have the same take and similar experience that I have, Paul. In my old home we had a car museum in the centre of town, and John Lennon’s hand painted Rolls was an ongoing exhibit. My wife’s girlfriend modeled with a bridal gown for a photo shoot with it.

Some celebs used to give public art shows at the big hotel in front of the inner harbour where celebs and even the Queen parked their yachts. While many of these were sociable, sometimes it was a guessing game as to who owned what. The next day we’d read who was in town, and who owned or leased the yacht the day after they left.
I think I’d like Rhode Island. But, I’d still wear a toque.
