I watch that and the Antiques Roadshow. I hate it when I see what I once had having slipped through my fingers. Even worse, is seeing what I know to be old while a young ‘un finds it new.

Yes, like to old metal toys and pedal cars, trucks and tractors that are worth thousands now. If we only knew, huh?
Yeah! What the hey, Marky?! Why didn’t somebody tell us? Maybe, it’s because I had no problem sucking on a lead painted lead soldier, cutting and poking myself with an erector set, shooting suction cup arrows from a bow (narrowly missing my kid brother), burning ourselves with ammunition from a cap gun, blowing up chemistry sets, and nearly burning down the house with a Bunsen burner. Them varmits needed to protect us. They got so annoyed that they decided to collect the dangerous goods, and sell them back to us at inflated prices. Well I’m not buying that old crap!

That’s a good one, Marky. ROTFL

Note: My parents were right to be afraid to buy me the big chemistry set in the hobby store window. The hobby store was close to home. I passed that set everyday on the way to school. Well, I don’t give up easily. I saved my meagre allowance with some sacrifice, brought it home while they were shopping all day, and, as soon as I arrived home, the first experiment soon dealt with nitrogen.
I’ll never forget how happy they were that I had become a Jekyll and Hyde. I can’t tell you how long it took to save up for my kit hoping it didn’t get bought before I got my grubby hands on it. I think that’s what the real surprise was.
I had finally graduated from baking soda frogmen, submarines, and PT boats. :D

I’m now watching American Pickers.

That's a good story and nice memory, FSB. Thanks for sharing.

I just finished an episode of Forged In Fire.
