I've been watching random Beatles live videos on YouTube, then I found this. I doubt it's anything official, but it's pretty cool thing about when they started out. Anthology Zero: The Beatles at their Best.

I finally got around to finishing this video, Paul, and found it thoroughly enjoyable. It was very interesting to learn about the pre-Ringo Beatles. Nice post.

Thanks. I found it by accident. I call that going down the YouTube rabbit hole, when you watch one thing, then you see all these other things pop up in the queue on the side you never even knew about.

Great history on the Beatles, Paul. As a drummer I knew the Pete Best story early on, but not as extensive as portrayed on the video. A lot of revealing stuff was thoroughly enjoyed. Thanks, for posting those videos.

Right now I am watching Bitchin’ Rides winning a major concours judging of their Nomad, and I feel kind of bad that in ’93 I didn’t own a body shop to restore a similar ‘55 Chevy Nomad that I was on the hunt for. I could have bought it, but the amount of rust didn’t help even though it ran, Hurst Dual Gate and all. Somebody surely bought It.

When I asked the owner why he was selling it, he opened a garage door to reveal a famous show car with a wooden beer barrel back end to which he said, “My wife is pregnant and one has to go. Which one would you choose?” I knew he meant the cars. We had a laugh over that amongst his Hot Rod magazine and Car Craft 6 foot tall trophies beside front page photos of the same rod.

Factoid: Replacement Nomad tailgates are rare because they rusted out and good ones are snapped up for a price. So rare, in fact, that Pontiac Safari tailgates are often the replacement. Safaris, arguably, are more luxurious with their trim for the most part, but this family version took a back seat to the Safari so Safari tailgates are sacrificed for the more desirable Chevy. Next time you see a cherry Nomad you might just be looking at a Chafari. :P

I think the interesting thing about Pete Best, even though he was fired right before the verge of the whole Beatlemania thing and their massive fame, he's almost or maybe even just as famous for being the guy that was kicked out from the band. I'll bet most people who know a lot about the Beatles, know who he is, so it's not like he disappeared into nothingness.

The same thing happened to N.D. Smart, the original drummer for Mountain. He was replaced by Corky Laing. That was a decision by Felix Pappalardi. At that time, Corky Laing was Mountain's Roadie. N.D. Smart was ok, but Corky Laing was a top rate drummer. The changing of drummers, turned out to be the right move by Felix.

Great Hard Day’s Night video, Paul. I found the whole documentary a joy to watch. I appreciated the bit about the crew using a child’s swing for a 360 movement around McCartney, much to the dismay of the Executive Producers. Film and TV used a lot of rules in those days only to later learn that you got better when you learned the rules, and knew how and when to break them. It was the 60s when thinking out of the box started to take off with both video and audio, but some today think that means no rules or they simply don’t get it. That’s where pro studios come in need be. Still there is good, very good, and better. :P Hard Day’s Night used it all. As cameramen with 100 pound boxes and complement lenses like in the movie we often had no crab or crane readily available at our beckoning, and so we constantly practiced and applied 360s with tripods on wheels and, if lucky, with heavy pedestals. A difficult simultaneous hands on focusing and distance movement at best. A swing might have come in handy. :P
I wasn’t a Fab Four fan in the beginning mainly due to the variety of awesome music in those days. I thought it a joke when in ‘65 I heard the Royal Navy was seriously considering Beatles wigs to help the short haired sailors get dates with the birds (at least they didn’t swap bell bottoms for Mick Jagger strides). Maybe, that imitation mop top for sailors and marines was a Royal decree. But, even I came around to accept the fact that as good as their videos were, their recordings changed music forever, and, eventually, the Beatles came to be included on my playlist a long time ago; however, except for posterity, I still don’t like the hit that never charted Billboard on release in the U.S. It’s called “She Loves You”. :D YMMV.

- Plymouth Roadrunner gets a makeover for shop owner Danny

- Beautiful complete stock red ‘55 Chev’ Belair wagon on driveway is offered for sale. Estimated at $30,000. My Dad’s ‘55 Belair cost less than the tax when new!

Meanwhile, I’m wondering why these cars were not seen to be available when I had spare change . . . and now that I don’t they’re popping up all over the place. Maybe, Boomers are letting go.

So true, FSB. I'm not a MOPAR guy, except for those old ones. The Road Runners and real hemis were so cool. You know the old saying, "we're not getting older, we're getting better". Well there you go, or maybe not so much??? Well at least we're worth more, right? Well there you go again! Or maybe not so much??? How come it works for cars?
