I’m hoping to watch the Olympic Men’s Biathalon on the PVR. The last one being the Women's event was cut short by the broadcaster switching to another event rather than delaying it. :? That would have been okay, but then they had an option of followup on the Biathalon.

It’s always fun to watch a race only to not see the finish. :x In the past the event might not have been covered at all. As a kid I did competition shooting, and as an adult I did some cross country skiing. I can only imagine how difficult it is to to do both.

It’s an older event than many other Olympic sports, It seems the North American broadcasters don’t get it or, even though Canada and U.S.A. both have past gold medals in the sport, they don’t want to increase the popularity.

This is probably why:

Now ya know.

Update: No Men’s Biathalon to watch ... that station on the other side of the border chose to run a newscast. Hmm? I guess searching online will become the norm or sitting in on another triple axle.

Turbo Cars Should FEAR This Man - Drag Week 2017 CHAMP!

After 1000 MILES OF DRIVING - Putting Nitrous Cars Back on the Map! This C2 Chevrolet Corvette took on Drag Week 2017 and showed Turbo Cars they aren’t always the best! Nitrous cars have always been some of the fiercest competition, but lately it seems turbo cars have been taking home the gold. That was not the case with this years Unlimited Class of Hot Rod’s Drag Week 2017 as Dave Schroeder Piloted this real body C2 Chevy Corvette into the winners circle! By no means was this an easy task, especially with the lack of test time due to the loss of friend and tuner, Monte Smith earlier in 2017. Taking home the win was meaningful in many ways as Dave has only ever finished 2 Drag Weeks in 7 years. Dave hasn’t had the best luck at the event in the past, even wrecking at 190MPH hasn't stopped him from returning every year since 2010! Now that he’s got a class win under his belt and survived the trials, we’re anxious to see how far they push this nitrous huffing chevrolet in 2018!

TWIN 102MM TURBO Mustang

You would NEVER believe this car was found in the corner of a BARN when you see how immaculate this 1967 Mustang is. You would be wasting your time looking for an imperfection! Powered by a 402 cubic inch SMALL BLOCK..this 3000+ horsepower BEAST is dialing in LOW 4’s in the 1/8th with “around” 1500hp left to play with……

Great series. I don't think I missed an episode.
My TV is off and I'm enjoying some quiet time and reflection. :D

Yellowsnakes:

Turbos are great until you have to replace high pressure hoses or the Uber expensive turbo along with the cost of installation which every mechanic is not capable of. I know because I was lucky to convince a rodder friend from one of Canada’s oldest car clubs to do his first turbo (Paxton) install on my past Volvo 760 Turbo (in Sweden for years that same car and other Volvo’s have been bricked to over 1000 HP with the stock mill). He did blowers and all, so I knew he would be capable once he had the knowledge. Ask any number of owners like my brother-in-law and buddy what they think of their past Audi and VW turbo failures. Great when they work, suspicious second hand, but in my case a dealer install cost much the same as a naturally aspirated rebuilt engine. Unfortunately, many of today’s cars give you less engine and more turbos limiting the choice. Sadly, my favourite and least favourite cars are turbo. Not a bad choice if you have racing sponsorship.

Meanwhile 7000 HP and 320 - 330 mph is somewhat common to Top Fuelers on land. HP is really not hard to achieve compared to the old days before computers and today’s manufacturing methods and having access to historical racing knowledge. Racing has more to do with the vehicle build, the driving skill, environment, and science limitations. We all know of the paper weight tuners that can outrun a brick like my old 70s Charger. But, jet cars and jet boats aside, don’t take my word for it as a long time Ultimate Hydro fan, this is perhaps, dragging with the most risk and challenge IMHO. YMMV. See for yourself:

Still fast cars are always interesting. Fast OEM cars are even more so as long as they can stay on the road.

I did the same thing earlier today. I did have some music playing low in the background.

I like TV like most of us here. I certainly don’t need it as a fix. I had too much of that in my life. Being an infoholic can be a hazard though, so I too find days to remove myself from the mass media. What a relief that can be. In fact I’ve discovered that without TV early in the day, I can look at the world through rose coloured glasses with a smile rather than through dirty glasses with disgust, disappointment, or sadness. Sure I miss out on the latest breaking news, but it will catch up to me later; hopefully, after the day gets it’s chance to shine. Nice that I won’t waste a good thing. Maybe I’ll stretch the whole positive experience even further.
Oh yeah, and usually there is music. :D

I'm watching Independence Day.
I can go days without watching the news. IN most cases the news doesn't affect me, or anything I can do about it. It may be a lousy attitude to have but, I've been around. The news just sensationalizes the events, and keeps shoving it down your throat.
