Captain Video - episode 1

I can’t believe how I was a diehard fan. Even the sets were budget. But, the nostalgia is lots of laughs and entertaining all the same. Early Star Trek monsters and landscape wasn’t much better after a decade.

I don’t think I even have a temperature lately. But, I haven’t lost it completely. I haven’t tuned in Howdy Doody yet. :P

 That is an absolute classic. I loved The Honeymooners and it still cracks me up.

We're watching an episode of Forged In Fire.

I kinda miss the old comedy shtick like the Honeymooners too. I wish they had made more episodes.

Once in a while we still have some great writing and excellent comedians, but, more often than not today’s comedy is driven to take a wrong direction joining a fast lane with others who have lost their way with true comedy, and there’s always a following ready to hitch a ride, rather than being left behind. If that ride’s on a roll it must be good right? It wears out pretty fast when it’s junk. Too bad comedy doesn’t get back on the road that everybody shares. I get satisfaction knowing that junk doesn’t stand the test of time. :D
I know, politics and comedy right? Blah blah blah. Everybody has their idea about what is funny. Just like every time in history, what was funny and acceptable at one time may not be today. Would a Don Rickles be possible today? Hmmm? Comedy has always had issues such as race, religion, politics, and so on. What has changed is attitudes, knowing what works and what doesn’t. There has always been funny and not funny based on society’s flavour of the day. Generations are keen to make art their own, and that includes comedy. Sadly, I see and hear more vulgarity without purpose, more reworked mean disgruntled jokes without humour or talent, and more self gratification. Even satire and parody can be misguided and questionable in their purpose hiding behind a veil of free speech to satisfy the originators and supporters. Like a vaudeville slap in the face, a lot of this hurts a healthy population of youth. Some comics’ careers have suffered by joining the frenzy. This cut throat stuff they call comedy is like a retired school teacher. They both have no class. It hurts comedy and the funny bone. If great comedy ain’t broken why fix it?

Hey! All is not bad. This newer form of schlock presents the opportunity for really funny talent to shine elsewhere.

I would love to have seen Sheldon as a neighbour of Ralph and Norton. I think Sheldon and Norton would have been Sci-Fi buddies. After a few knocks on the door and calling out “Ralph” instead of Penny, Alice would have had to keep Ralph away from Sheldon.

Very, very well said, FSB. I couldn't agree more.

"This cut throat stuff they call comedy is like a retired school teacher. They both have no class."
Now that's funny. I just finished watching the movie Batman Begins.

I’m debating whether or not I will have a day of no news is good news TV day. Might be a good time to get into those unread books in my case, put on a little tunes, and enjoy the day.
