Thanks to Mark Kendrick for this :

On his 108th birthday, here are, 10, little known, Leo Fender facts:

1. He was completely hands on, on the shop floor.

2. On occasion, he'd go out to lunch. He enjoyed Spires and Carl's Jr.

3. He ate Franco American spaghetti from the can.

4. He'd eat lunch at the same table as his employees.

5. He understood his product, and process, intimately.

6. Every year, on the release of the new Cadillac offerings, he'd go to McLean Cadillac, in Santa Ana, and check them out.

7. The name of his boat was Aquafen.

8. The name of his land company was Terrafen.

9. He and Don Randall knew accounting and tax law quite well. One of their disputes with the IRS went to the Supreme Court. They won.

10. While at Fender, the only product he ever named was the Precision Bass.
