The cars are revving and cruising. It’s Summer. Time to bring back the tunes.

This song reminds me of cruisin' up Harlem Avenue on the far west side of Chicago listening to the tape deck. This band recorded at Paragon studio in Chicago and when they were recording they parked all of their new Eldorado's and DeVille's outside the studio. There are some photos of that somewhere. Cool Bros

Nazareth. Can’t go wrong with those guys IMHO. What a great song to have here, Rollie. The mix is awesome on EarPods or cans. Thanks, for adding it to the car collection, SBLS. :D

Summer has come and gone, and in some places so have some of those Show and Shine events. I’m thinking it’s time to add this:.

Vroom!

just had to post it again, the ultimate car song, gentlemen start your engines (is Ian Paice the best rock drummer? I think maybe. What do you think?)

Great piece, SBLS. Thanks, bro’.

At the risk of rockin’ the drums, I’ll say this. Ian Paice is definitely worthy of top ten recognition, and that’s how I see it as a drummer.

A good many drummers don’t find best drummers only better ones as there are major differences amongst them, and not only within a genre. Some mix up a genre with Latin and rock including women like Sheila E and Santana’s wife (former Lenny Kravitz’s drummer) Cindy Blackman, Jazz and rock, different rock, and so on. Some are formally trained and others are not. Some can read and others can not. Some are showmen and others are not. Some can only do a little, and others can do a lot. It’s pretty technical. Some couldn’t get from here to there without leadership on a band. Example: It has been said there would be no Ginger Baker without Jimmy Page. Perhaps, that concept could be true of Ringo too. Still others like Dave Grohl, Phil Collins, Levon Helm, Don Henley (need I go on?) are multi talented musicians and, perhaps, vocalists. It should be noted that I find singing and playing drums without a simple boom chicka can present a challenge different than guitar which is more natural for some reason. YMMV

I think there are traditional favourites though. For me Keith Moon, D. J. Fontana, Sandy Nelson, Hal Blaine, Vinnie Colaiuta, and a ton of others, a lot by genres like funk and surf (some of the better overall drummers go uncredited) and one hit wonders for example, and having seen Rich live twice, he is a legend that stands alone although not a rocker per se.

For hard rock, at the risk of naysayers, I’ll just say Bonzo also falls in that category of favourite, but IMHO, like others he tends to be inconsistent and, while keeping a groove and setting a style, he tends to be a little loose missing the mark at times (like me).
Check this alternative choice:

Neil Peart, Buddy’s favourite drummer, tops the list on most every rating for best drummer in the rock world, and I find that hard to disagree with.

Back to the road (oh yeah, a little drumming and a Fender Strat):

Great videos, BTO is a favorite. Only saw Buddy Rich once my percussion professor Jake Jerger took me to see him, they were both great. Narada Michael Walden, Tony Williams (R.I.P.) are jazz players that I like. My buddy Tommy Aldridge has my favorite groove. Ginger Baker and Mitch Mtchel (R.I.P.) blew me away when I saw them with Cream and the Jimi Hendrix Experience respectively in concerts about two months apart 1968. Too much information it took years before I fully processed what those guys did, I miss Mitch. Fito de la Parra is the animal on drums to the USA like Keith Moon was in the UK. So many talented drummers like Jimmy Vincent, Pete Rivera, John Deleone are not known it seems to younger musicians. I'll stop there talking about drummers could take all night. 8)

You said it perfectly my brother. So many really talented drummers and other musicians that simply are. Many with low publicity, and I’ve come across some outstanding ones through seminars and learning of them through others like you mentioned. As always, many studio dudes are some of the best by a long shot IMHO.

Gotta go to sleep now. I’ll chew the fat wid ya later alligator. Thanks, for the vids. :D
