I got an email yesterday that announced 10 new Fender Deluxe series guitars. Does this mean that the Elite series is not being received well, or not selling well?

Overall how is the Elite series of guitars being received? I see very few models in my local shops.

Is the Deluxe series back for good?

Could be the Mexican Deluxe guitars.
Although I have to say, I haven't even looked at the Elite series. The name reminds me too much of this

It's a mess.
The Deluxe on these ones is a prefix, not a postfix, and the specs different from the "other" deluxes.

Deluxe Telecaster Thinline: 1 tone control, 1 volume control
Telecaster Thinline Deluxe: 2 tone controls, 2 volume controls

Perhaps there will be a Deluxe Telecaster Thinline Deluxe too, who knows.

Combined with the "Elites" that has nothing to do with the previous Elites, is Fender deliberately trying to confuse customers and retailers as much as possible?

Will it have six volume and six tone controls?

Fender Elite Stratocaster with button controls, reminds me of 66 dodge Dart, button Shifter in dash . Image Image

I have no concept of what this means. Prefix, posfix "deluxe". It makes a difference?

I was blown away when I learned that the Gibson LP Traditional came in a "traditional" and "pro" version.

There needs to be a law!

It does, now. "Deluxe Telecaster" is not the same as "Telecaster Deluxe". Two very different guitars.
It's just going to cause confusion.

I said this before... when I got my first strat in the early 60's, there were very few choices. now there is almost too much to choose from. I have yet to see I brick-and-mortar store with a huge selection- they just can't afford the inventory.

if I was looking to buy a new strat now, there is no way that I could try everyone out to see which one I would like. to top it off, look at all the people who are looking for vintage strats, and are willing to pay a bit more for them.

You said a mouthful, Fred.

That's why I am a "standard" man.

Gibson Les Paul? Standard.

Fender Stratocaster? American Standard.

SG? Standard.

Tele? American Standard (or Vintage, maybe a baja but that's about it).

With American, that's still an option.

However, with MIM, there's now a Standard platform as well as a Standard series.
Just like with the Deluxe, whether it's a platform or a series means a different set of guitars - some overlapping, but not all.
It's like they go out of their way to confuse buyers.

It's not that there's too many guitars for shops to stock. It's the way Fender impose on shops. A friend dropped Fender from his stock a year ago. They were trying to push a load of stuff on him that he just couldn't sell in a small town. Couple of MIM Tele's, couple of MIM Strats. A Pbass and maybe a US Strat or something as a showpiece. He'd have been fine. Instead they insist he stocks 30 MIM guitars. A load of amps he's never going to sell. And a shed load of Squier guitars.
Shame cos now I can't buy those wonderful cloth cables.
