Nice
Nothing better than a local pub folk night and a pint or three, good for the soul.

And it led me to a full live EC show(audio only)...Eric Clapton - Bluesmn - live at the forum 1994, maybe a perfect blues performance to finish out the night.

Hi Glenn, thanks I am ok and I hope you are too.
Been busy lately, my Mother died in May, which as anyone knows, is always a difficult one to take but it had been expected for some time. She had Dementia but she just about made it to 90, it had gradually been getting worse and finally took her out. All the family still miss her but it was a blessing really, that Dementia is a terrible illness, they've gotta find a cure for that thing.
Anyway, keep it going yourself man and great to hear from ya. :D

That's right Arth. This is a short clip we did early in the year. A few to many guitars at this point perhaps but it livens up later in the night when a few of the characters come in. That's me on the left with the hat on, more of a rocker really. When we don't know what song it is, everybody is following everybody else but we all manage to get to the end. :D

I know, you're the bloke that Ritchie Blackmore tries to impersonate; hat, mustache and all!

If I make it up to lancs the next time I'm back across the pond, I hope you can find me a seat at the pub. I'll bring mediocre playing, and stories from the colonies.

Sorry for your loss, Steven. I share your thoughts about dementia. My wife's mother lives in a care home nearby and we visit most days (today included). She also has dementia and the progression is beginning to take it's toll on this 94 year old in a wheelchair, little hearing left, and failing eyesight. Still, she has the odd good day with some normalicy. To some son-in-laws she would be just a mother-in-law, but we are close friends as well so I call her my buddy and she returns the favour. She likes to talk of things that don't exist but I have learned to just agree, carry on a conversation that complements her thoughts, or change the subject (a good approach when arguments surface). Singing to and with her also helps. Music- a wonderful thing and a great tool. Meanwhile, my mother lives far away at the age of 94 also. She is forgetful, but seems to not have reached the dementia stage.

To those who haven't yet had family experiences with this disease, I agree that it is terrible; but, know that there are quality times should you make a little effort and learn to adapt. Still, it's a hard road to travel and it takes a little grit and sacrifice at best.

Take care and have a good one, Rhumba

PS On my recent travels, I recently discovered a new Irish Pub in Vancouver, BC and went to my former home's favourite neighbourhood historical pub The Four Mile House on Vancouver Island. Although it was nostalgic, there was no live music. We could have used you and your mates :D

Yeah!! and Blackmore never asks for my permission but it's ok I don't mind.
Arth, there will always be a seat for you in the pub and mediocre playing will fit you right in with the band, no matter which one turns up. In fact mediocre playing is a requisite and makes us all sound alright. Looking forward to seeing you and there will be a pint waiting as well.
:D

Thanks FSB,
Sorry to hear of you're wife's mother I know exactly the pain you are going through. My mother would talk about the distant past as if it was yesterday, her mother and father and sisters who have all been dead for years.
But never remember recent things like - 'what she had for dinner today' and she loved a sing when the local Vicar came 'round, she had this knack of starting off before everyone else and finishing after everyone else. She was a dear, my best friend and I miss her a lot but now she is free from that illness and I know she is ok with her family and my father now.
Heard on the news last week that they have been making break-throughs with alzeimers, if they catch it early enough they can halt it's progress for a while with some drug they've found. Hopefully they will be able to cure it completely in the near future.

Yes, I'm sure the guy's would love to come over to Vancouver, I know I would and who knows what the future holds.
Cheers!! have a good one yourself. :D

Thanks Glenn,
I know you've had your share of sadness earlier in the year and I hope you are doing okay too.
I'm doing fine and if you think about life anything like I do, then there is no finality to it and we all meet again someday, somewhere.
Cheers man, have a good day.

Thanks for the vids. Cool !! We have a lot of Folkies' coming into our pub and quite a few are Irish, some are very good they sound a lot like that.
Cheers man.

Variety, and people who dare to play and enjoy each other's company. It doesn't get much better on a rainy day.

One of my best memories was an elderly Scottish guy that used to come to the pub, and sometimes when there were enough people having a good time, he'd pull out his penny whistle, and man, could he play. I could hardly understand a word he said, but his playing - that, we all understood.
A little different is good.

Now that is what I like a good ol' hoedown. Looks like quite the lively crew, wish I could be there, I would have added some harmonica into the mix

You would be most welcome mud. We had a harmonica player come in once but hasn't been in for a while, it certainly does bring something else. A pint for you too.
Cheers!! :D
