don't you get it? Your explanation is not desired or appreciated here. Nobody asked and nobody cares - really!.

Why don't you go onto a law enforcement forum and post an explanation of why guitar manufacturers prefer certain types of wood? That would make as much sense.

No...Don't YOU get it??
When someone posts something off subject I will excersize my right to respond.
You can excersize your right to move along.
There are a plethora of subjects discussed here that aren't directly musical instrument related.
Don't think YOU can pick which of those that can be discussed.

For someone who "doesn't care" You certainly keep coming back to this subject.

That's setting a good example. If you go on a message board looking for behavior you do not like or posts that do not follow the guidelines, you are going to find it.

yea,, everyone has buttons that are too easily pushed, seems we are more divided than ever.

music and our love of all things related to guitar is what brings us here,

it is the one thing we can find common ground on.

If someone comes on and posts that the best strings are Elixirs.......or the best tonewood is mahogany. .....or the best amp is a Mustang, then it goes without saying that these will also be "hot button issues"
Alternatively, those issues could be discussed civilly and productively without labeling responding opinions as "idiots"......or....."Your explanation is not desired or appreciated here".
It all boils down to how full of themselves someone is on this discussion board.

Actually what it boils down to is a forum for music related gear that is hosted by a retail company.

"This forum is for open public discussion of all things Fender and general music-related subjects."

Don't think YOU can pick which of those that can be discussed.

I think this small portion of dialogue is indicative of the problem.

I'll admit that I have some VERY strong opinions on various things--from gear to social unrest.

If I'm "right" (in my opinion), I sincerely doubt I'll vacillate on my opinion...but I will allow the other person to be "right" in their own opinion and in their own mind.

I may not agree with their supposition, I may have had a completely different experience, and I might continue to give more reasons/evidence as to why I feel the way I feel, but...

Ultimately, I give the other guy/gal/undetermined the right to have an opinion, too. This is called "humility" and "respect."

Yes, I've gotten petty and childish. I called Strings a "Buttmunch" and he called me a "Turtle" (still not sure what that meant, but ok, I guess it was supposed to be funny?)...it ended the dialogue, at least for me, and a healthy discussion of analog vs. digital vs. solid-state vs. tubes vs. whatever with insightful anecdotes and information was closed...I also bluntly stated that an analogy used by Arth1 in the discussion about the Dallas LEOs was stupid (because it was)...

But it shut down communication because we lost humility and started disrespecting one another.

Conversely, the Noted Curmudgeon and Avid Ignore Button Connoisseur Retroverbial (and that was said with all due respect, Arjay) and I have disagreed on several points at multiple levels...however, we've maintained a civil, open dialogue--while continuing to disagree and promote our own ideas...respectfully. Thus, I've never graced his extensive "Ignore" list...because when I've disagreed with Arjay, I've done it with respect.

Ckmckool, you are obviously very passionate and disturbed about the situation you have been dealing with--but when the fourth or fifth or sixth person (with varying degrees of respect, disrespect and concern) says that your comments are out of line, maybe you should grow some humility and examine whether your "right" to be heard and your "right" to express yourself on a public forum is that important...also although this is a public Forum, it is owned by a private firm, so your "rights" are limited by their "right" to close down or remove something they consider to be incidiary or dangerous.

Also, your obsession with the inequity and unfairness of your situation has made you blind to the fact that other people--who have never and may never deal with an occurrence such as yours--have the "right" to disagree with you. They also have the "right" to be concerned (and call you out) when you sympathize with a person who murdered 5 people (i.e., the cop killer in Dallas) and likened him to the patriots/rebels in the American Revolution in their actions against the British.

The RIGHT to be heard is balanced by the RIGHT of the hearer to disagree...just ask Natalie Maines...someone else who didn't have the humility or respect toward others to understand that an opinion is not necessarily the truth--it's just an opinion.

I've been frequenting another forum lately...one that has fostered a polite, humble atmosphere that still allows people to openly express their opinions (including very strong or controversial opinions). The Fender Forum used to be that way, too.

I don't know if it will ever recover...

Interesting.
You direct this comment only at me...and not the person I'm responding to...who professed to know what everyone else was thinking.....

Whomever "you" are (everyone but no-one in particular) ... your rights end where mine begin.
Your rights do not overlap and supersede my rights or anyone else's rights.
Your rights come to an abrupt STOP wherever mine begin.

You may insist on exercising your imagined right to puke all over the board, despite the fact our hosts have asked you not to.

We have the right to not have to listen to your crap.
We have several options at our disposal.

- We can ask politely for people to stop puking all over the board. This is what I tried and apparently it meets with limited success. Thank you for repeating that lesson for us all. Some people simply have no respect or courtesy.

- We can collectively click the magic happy button and never have to see another slice of drivel again. It doesn't clean up the board but at least we don't suffer with the stench.

- We can appeal to the admins to have someone punted from the board. It's been done before on a number of occasions when behaviour gets far enough out of line and the majority make enough fuss.

Perhaps it's time for a poll?

Yes....by all means......take a poll in which politics of this board (who is who by the number of comments they post) ....and by pure democracy......a decision is rendered to expell someone who dares respond with the same conduct in reply.
Yea. Then all will be right the world again.
