This question doesn't relate to any Fender products so if I'm committing heresy by asking in a Fender forum, I apologise.

I have an electro-acoustic guitar with a piezo pickup under the bridge. I run it into a an acoustic Kustom amp. The amp had knobs for bass, low-mid, high-mid, and high. I love this amplifier but with that particular guitar's piezo, it's rather bright and harsh sounding.

I would like advice on what I could do to "warm up" the signal but still keep a clean acoustic guitar tone? Perhaps a 7 band EQ pedal? I was even wondering about a tube preamp like a Behringer tube ultragain.

Thank you for your consideration.

Hello WS, tone knob, speaker size or a pedal.

Thanks for replying, but I don't understand. ...

Enlarge the speaker size? And what kind of pedal?

Cheers

A 15" speaker pushes more air so has a fuller or bigger sound. Adjusting treble and bass will be more pronounced. I don't know what pedal but there are so many that I am sure you will find the right one. Have fun shopping .

If you're not afraid of bringing out a soldering iron, a simple low-pass filter that rolls off the high end might be all you need.

It's hard to guess how hot your pickup is, but something like a 3.3 kiloOhm resistor patched in on one of the wires, and a 0.022 microFahrad capacitor across the two wires, on the amp side of where the resistor is, might be a good starting point. I'm going by memory here, but I think that's what I used on the wires for a fiddle pickup to soften it a bit.

Or you might want to consider a mechanical solution, dampening the bridge a smidge.
If it's a screw-in bridge, a couple of plastic washers might be all it takes to soften the tone.
If it's an acoustic style plastic or bone bridge, a piece of paper under it can make a big difference. As can making sure it and its socket are a good fit - if the socket is a tiny bit bent and the bridge isn't, the tone can sound really jangly.
