Pretty cool. 8) I would have loved to have seen the James Gang back in the day, but I was a little kid. :P

I remember seeing The James Gang back in the day, sometime in mid 1969. The Jeff Beck Group was supposed to be the headliner, with Nazz as the opening act. However, JBG cancelled for some reason and they brought in Jimmy Fox, Dale Peters, and Joseph Walsh instead. Their first album "Yer Album" had just been released so they weren't totally unknown to the audience and they did not disappoint. They were America's first "power trio" and they blew the roof off of that auditorium.

Glad you had such a great time !!

I saw them July 4th weekend in 1970 at the COBO in Detroit where the JG opened for the Who !!

I had ridden The Dog for 18 hrs. to visit my cousin who had just moved there after college when he landed a job w/ FORD. He splurged for the best seats in the House - $6.00 (vs. $2.50 standard) !!

Both bands were amazing, but it was especially great when Townshend and Walsh did a 10 min. jam together !

I met Joe a couple years back one day when I went to my go-to guitar shop - Willie's American Guitars.

Joe had flown-in to pick up a couple vintage guitars Willie had - a '56 Stratocaster and a '57 LP totaling $43k !! Joe sat around and played each for more than 10 min.

Funny thing, a couple younger guys came in and were trying some Gibsons and didn't even recognize him or pay any attention.

Later, Willie, Joe and I chatted a bit and I got his autograph. I don't have a cellphone, so no pic, but Joe took a selphie w/ Willie and me, so he has a pic of me, but I don't have one of him... :(

Cheers!
