A little different sound.
You should look into the cedar ones.
They aren't in the regular X-hundred series lineups.
They are in the 2 letter series, like GA3 for example.
My buddy has two Cedar Taylors.
They have a warmer, softer tone.
They still have clarity and note definition, just less emphasis on that and more on warmth.

I'll see if I can get some model numbers for you tomorrow.

Nice looking guitar Shimmilou. Does that have the matte finish back and sides? My 410r and 412r have the matte finish. I like it 'cause it doesn't show finger prints.

The ones I'm thinking of have spruce tops and cedar back and sides.

Looks like buddy sold his guitars. Doesn't remember model numbers.

And he didn't even tell me before selling.

I may have to re-evaluate this friendship.

That sounds a bit harsh.

It was indeed.
Very harsh to not give me a heads up and an opportunity to acquire.
It was the totally harshest of harsh.

I don't have a Taylor with a cedar top. Dang, I thought I was done. I'm gonna need a bigger guitar room.

Don't forget the Sapele, KOA, Macassar Ebony, Maple, different body shapes, cutaways, 12-strings, ......, yeah, a MUCH bigger room.

My GS mini and 355 12 string are sapele. They sound fine but not very appealing wood to look at IMHO. Thinking about maple though. Don't care for the cutaways, I have a probably irrational bias toward them. I read one time that if you took sapele, rosewood and mahogany guitars, all the same body shape and recorded them and played the recording back you couldn't tell me which was which. I believe that but I think you could tell maple, but who's to say. Tonight I've been playing my 40 year old Martin D-19 and I noticed it was mellower sounding and less bright than any of my Taylors. I wonder if it's the age or because it's a Martin or both. :)

To quote Pink Floyd from those very very early years,
So, uh wot's the deal
with no more cocobolo?
I like that wood.
I see it's not just Taylor, Warmoth is also not using it anymore.

Sweetwater has a Taylor T5z in Cocobolo. A Sweetwater exclusive. Cocobolo is fun to say.
