Alvin Toffler, writer/futurist, best known for his works discussing modern technologies in Post-Industrial society, including the digital revolution and the communication revolution, and their effects on cultures worldwide.

His book Future Shock was a World-wide Best Seller and a wakeup for Humanity just entering the Digital Age, which now greatly influences the everyday life of every person on the planet.

His most foreboding quote: "Society needs people who take care of the elderly and who know how to be compassionate and honest... Society needs people who work in hospitals... Society needs all kinds of skills that are not just cognitive; they’re emotional, they’re affectional... You can’t run the society on data and computers alone..."

Toffler is also frequently cited as stating: "Tomorrow's illiterate will not be the man who can't read; he will be the man who has not learned how to unlearn..."

So much of what he forecast is now coming true that I hope society will heed the warning...

Condolences...

cheers!

Thanks for telling us of Alvin Toffler, Jim.

It's a lost opportunity to not include historical and predicted cause and effect from those of perceived reason.

We might discover positive considerations for the well being of ourselves as well as for others.

RIP Mr. Toffler
