He was such a kind gentleman when Lady Armadillo and I met him years ago at the Arlington Guitar Show.

It's funny before I really knew about the Beatles or Led Zeppelin or any of those bands, I knew who Elvis was as a kid. I was well familiar with that music as well as Scotty Moore's guitar playing. He was the influence of the influences, I guess you could say.

Paul, there have been many threads on the Forum about guitar influence. I don't remember if I ever responded to any of them because there are so many great guitarists. The truth from my point of view is Scotty Moore and Billy Butler. They played on classic songs in stellar bands when I was young and highly impressionable. Only in America.

learning to play guitar in the 60's, I was always drawn to the rhythm players. scotty, later john lennon, and many others helped form my style.

if you read interviews with scotty, he seemed a humble man. he was second banana to elvis, but didn't seem to mind.

thanks scotty, and r.i.p.

Very sad news. I hope James Roy & Butterscotch will chime in. They, along with
Mike Eldred have a lot of history with Scotty.

A pioneer guitarist in the Rock-N-Roll world who greatly influenced many musicians.
May he R.I.P.

84 is a decent run.

Too bad he'll be remembered as Elvis' guitar player. I'd rather remember Elvis as Scotty Moore's singer.

You always gave us 110%, Scotty. You always had our admiration. Here's hoping you and the King will get to jam again.
