Caught Buddy Guy Friday Night at the Minnesota Zoo Amphitheatre.

One of the 50 or so times I've seen him play - I was a regular at his Club (not the one(s) now which simply sport his name) in Chicago back in the '80's.

A great show, but at 79, he's definitely slowed a bit. Did some nice guitar work incl. some Cream and even a bit of Hendrix. Played lots of the old standards and a nice tribute to B.B.

Catch him if you can because he won't be with us forever !

This YouTube is from his performance last year at the Zoo...

The Amphitheatre is a really nice outdoor venue on a Summer Night.

Gonna see George Thorogood & The Destroyers there in 3 weeks... can't wait !!

Cheers!

Looks like a nice venue to see him at...or anybody for that matter.

I am going to see him open for Jeff Beck in August (a nice fathers day gift!). I saw Buddy once before as the opener for BB King about 15+ years ago. Looking forward to it...

I had seen Mr. Guy several times over the years--the first and most notable occasion was at Antone's in 1991, "Damn Right I Got The Blues" era.

He's always amazed and always entertained.

I hadn't seen him in a few years, and the most recent live experience of seeing him was in an arena/stadium situation, so I didn't get to see him up close.

Earlier this year, I took the Armadillo Teen and an ex-brother-in-law (I wish we had been able to keep him in the divorce...I always liked him better, but I digress) to the Experience Hendrix concert, and was somewhat taken aback at how stiffly Mr. Guy moved. I always knew he was significantly older than me, but this is the first time he actually looked old.

However, when it came time to play, HE ROCKED. His voice and his guitar-ing was as strong and powerful as ever...I was very impressed and happy to hear that part--and ecstatic that Armadillo Teen was able to experience him before he slipped too much.

BTW, he was playing through a Bassbreaker amp--and it fit his style VERY well...
