So my MXR D+ was defective and burnt out, but my local music store let me exchange it at no extra cost for a brand new Ibanez TS9. Haven't used it much, but I like what I hear. Probably the only good crunchy pedal on the market that sounds good with everything dimed.

can't go wrong with a TS9 - I played mine through a SS combo amp for years with good results.

Here's my old rig at very low (intimate setting) volume.
Just ignore the vocals.

That's pretty cool that you were able to get a deal with that. 8) The only Ibanez pedal I ever had was one of those cheesy Sound Tank distortion pedals from the late 80's/early 90's (new when I bought it,) because I wanted a cheap distortion pedal for my bass at the time. I could get a nasty distortion with it, at least. It did manage to hold out for a long time, even though it was made out of plastic, but then again, I didn't use it a lot.

I had one in the 80's, it was in my first group of pedals, I got it with an Ibanez analog delay. I like them both.

It's not as heavy as I was hoping. It's pretty much like a 289 V8, yea it's a V8, but it's underpowered.

That being said, I love this pedal. I only wish the max setting for all was like 3/4ths of the way up and that the pedal had a little more bite when cranked. That being said, I haven't played on my amp with the volume above 2, so I'm not in any place to fully judge it. And yes, this is through the Deuce with the 84 ST-331.

I think it has a good sound, I just need a little more weight behind it for muting. It sounds too clean when muted. But for fast, sloppy, noisy, garagey, grungey, etc sounds, I think it works.

9/10, would rec for a rock, blues, psychedelic, county, or just about any band. Just not heavy enough for metal or punk or any of the like. I'm sure there's a mod for that though.

I found these, if they are useful: https://www.jhspedals.com/products/mod- ... -mod/feed/ http://www.premierguitar.com/articles/5 ... _Boss_SD-1 The first thing I linked costs $50, though.

If you like the overall sound of the TS9, you might want to try dialing it back to about 1 o'clock on the dial and stack another pedal in front of it.
When stacking pedals the last one in the chain has the most impact on overall tone.

I was the other way. I don't particularly care for the TS9 but for my taste it was a great pusher to stack in front of another pedal.

Anyway, congrats on finding a keeper!
Any new gear day is a good day.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

Well, the only other pedal i have is my micro q tron. It produces its own fuzz and when chained it's always first in line. Should I play with order, maybe have friends bring pedals and see what happens?

Yeah, I'd try that and see what happens.
