I have always had a thing for Japanese women. Must be from watching all those Japanese monster movies growing up. I ran across this gal the other day and fell in love.

Check out Tomoko playing surf guitar, she's playing a Mosrite, my apologies to Fender. Why is there always some idiot who cannot stay in their seat, and has to dance in front of the camera shot.

Dick Dale - The King Of Surf Guitar

Mrs. LMN and I were lucky enough to meet Dick in New Orleans and spend some time after his show. Amazing guy and right there when Leo started it all...

Cheers!!

Believe it or not, there's a real Surf movement in New Orleans.

Not only do they have several 'Surf' bands, but there's an actual surf movement on Lake Pontchartrain where high tides can create 'waves'. You see kids in wet suits out on their long boards, not exactly Maui's north tip, but they're having fun.

One Surf band we try to catch when we're in NOLA is The Unnaturals. Though true Surf music predates them all by a several decades, they nonetheless have the jist of it:

They opened for Dick Dale the last time we saw him @ Howlin' Wolf.

Cheers!

The underrated Fender Excelsior does surf. Of course, they do need reverb added.

Here's an entire set from The Unnaturals.

Not certain of the location, but I believe it's the Old Point Bar in Algiers Point just across the river from New Orleans. Seem to have changed their stage backdrop since we were last there.

Cheers!

Wipe Out - The Sufaris

I can't believe this wasn't among the first songs posted. When I was about 9 years old, this was the standard we judged both guitarists and drummers by.
