Beyond the list, there's, Lindsey Buckingham, Derek Trucks, Russ Freeman, and on and on....I can't reduce it to a Top Five...

Child of the 80's UK music scene eh? I saw The Cure at Sheffield arena back in 1986 and it was one of the best gigs of that musical genre that I had seen.
I'll add John Squire and Nick McCabe live.
5 is too few a number.

I'm more about the bassists than the guitarists, since that is my main instrument, but yeah that's one of my favorite eras/genres of music.

Oops... My bad... Sorry everyone. I wrote in Chet Atkins when I was thinking of Tommy Emmanuel (Chet Atkins' protege).

Favorite guitarists . . .

I chose Clapton and Gilmour. I would add Jimmy Page. I'm good with just three.

Joe Torosion
Frank Barbalace
Dan Peters

worldwide:
George Lynch
Joe Perry
Jimmy Page
Zal Cleminson
Billy Gibbons

there are too many in the Chicagoland area to list and way too many worldwide to list as well. I picked the guitarists that first came to mind. I'll get a headache if I try to remember them all, lol.
