Recently I was using my Boss TU80 tuner when I discovered that not only can it tune guitar and bass but it has a chromatic function as well. I whistled into the mic uncertain if it would register and it read F#5. So then I used it on my guitar and developed a question that I can't even google. Should my guitar be tuned from E2, A2, D2 and so on or are my strings way to tight. In other words should the low E read as E1 or E2 (?).....and the octave, of course one higher. If it should read as E1 then I gotta raise my strings and readjust to the looseness of the vibration, it's like a jump rope! I hope I didn't mess up that bad, but I think I did. Any help is appreciated and there's still no door prize.

Dazed And Confused (by Zepplin) is in E minor. Play it and tune to the song. Then hook up to your tuner and see what it says.

Check to see that it's calibrated to A=440.

You want to use E2. The notes are E2, A2, D3, G3, B3, E4 for standard tuning on a 6 string guitar. E1 is for tuning a bass.
