Some of Brad Paisley's Telecasters were not built by Fender and most that were are heavily modified beyond spec so there may be some issues convincing FMIC to build a "signature" instrument......

If Artist Guitars are your thing, that's cool... it's what America is all about...

WARNING

RANT ON...

IMHO, the distinction and panache of Fender's Artist Guitars is at it's lowest point since the introduction of their 1st Artist Signature guitar from Eric Clapton back in 1988.

The latest offerings bear little more than a cosmetic resemblance to the actual instrument played by the artist themselves. The reported 'Artist's input' is a joke and any input that actually makes it to production does so only after being scrutinized and approved by the Marketing and Accounting Depts. at FMIC.

The Artists go along with this because the money is good and as most of their careers have peaked long ago, it's a huge boost to both their egos and their legacies.

Fender is quickly becoming the $2 $@!&# who lowers her rate to two bits for Fleet Week lest a single sailor is missed. Anything to sell one more guitar...

What's next? An Esteban signature model ??

Esteban... You know, that dashing axe man in the bolero hat, the lord of the Spanish guitar who is overly suave and mystical. So suave in fact that he doesn't even need a last name who is, in reality, just a white guy from Pittsburgh whose real name is Stephen Paul, a wannabe Zorro with a guitar.

Personally, I'd feel like a moron walking into a jam session w/ a Clapton, Hendrix or Buddy Guy signature model because first I think it raises people's expectations of your talent, which in my case would only lead to massive disappointment for the onlookers.

But also because each of these artists became famous and revered not for their signature instruments, or their ability to emulate others, but for their own signature style.

Remember, it's not the Wand... it's the Magician.

RANT OFF...

I bet for the same money (or less) than these sig series cost, you could easily assemble all the parts/features you want and have your own personalized guitar to make your own noise with.

Cheers !!

I guess stranger things have happened - like Bon Jovi doing TV commercials for

...even weirder is Sambora and Dolly Parton doing a Bon Jovi cover!

As a former sea dog I gotta say, "Dang! I missed Fleet Week, and paid a lot more for a Fender".
