Fender should come with a Floyd Rose stratocaster with the specs that Prince played. Artist series... I would buy one

the only thing that gives me the heebeejeebees more than humbuckers on a Strat is a floyd rose on a Strat! but THAT knockoff frankenstrat? what is that, a nintendo novelty gag? a FR, with a HB in the bridge, and no middle pup? i think i have stared hell in the face and lived to tell of it
but hey... to each his own

Don't agree with that... Like to see more than only SSS strats everytime. The blue strat on the photo is actually a masterbuilt Fender. Not a knockoff frankenstrat that doesn't have a middle pickup either. Artists like Eddie van Halen and Prince know what thery're doing how to think outside the box than play only a SSS strat.

Besides, I've owned 6 - 7 strats (USA and CS) and always come back with the ones with bridge humbuckers. And nothing wrong with a floyd as long it is an original and it is setup right. In the beginning I hated a floyd also, but I learned to appreciate it. But hey... to each his own, like you've said

AFAICT the radius of a strat neck does not lend itself too well to the design of the Rose, at least it didn't back in the day when you could not shim those pole heights out of the box. The older roses liked "flatter" necks like what came on Kramers and Jacksons and when you did see them on strats they could be a bit wonky.
Lots of strat modders that I knew that did have success with the fewest time needed to mod it appeared Gotoh/Wilkenson was a far simpler alternative to the Jan Brady braces that Leo slapped on there.

When you consider some of the truly whack guitar shapes Prince was known for playing, the Strat pictured above is downright traditional and conservative by comparison.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

Absolutely true... Those Cloud and Symbol guitar not only looked weird but sounded terrible. Personally his Fender period sounded best. Although his tele-clone Hohner was better for playing funk, which he did use for that genre. The last couple of years he played on a VOX HDC 77 because of the versatile tones for his music.

I've never like the Floyd Rose whammies that much (or tremolos/vibratos/whatever-you-call-it in general, for that matter...I blocked my Strat's vintage-style tremolo with a stack of quarters), but if your playing style calls for it and you like it, goodonya.

I like the looks of a Bigsby (extremely cool r-n-r vibe), but I don't know if I'd ever get one because tremolos/vibratos/whatevers aren't a part of my playing style.

The guitar in this picture is an interesting twist on the tried-and-true SSS Stratocaster, but outside of Hard Core Prince Aficionados and the Dearly Departed Prince himself, I don't see this being a big seller, especially with the very unique set of features this one possesses.

Besides, when most people think of Prince, they think either one of the variants of the Cloud guitar or the Tele-esque Hohner (I always think of the latter)...

But then again, I didn't think John Mayer would have been granted seventy-five* different signature models, either, so what do I know?

*this figure may be a slight exaggeration...

Two weeks ago I bumped into a very rare 1992 USA Fender Strat Classic with Original Floyd Rose tremolo. And I bought it!!!

What a great guitar!!! It has a darker tone (exactly what I was hoping for) and has more sustain than my other Fender Strats... Love it!!!
