Outrageously entertaining (though the live audience seemed nonplussed).

I wonder who's going to re-string those bows?

Re-hairing bows is pretty standard operating procedure. I pay $40 for white horse hair re-hairing, which is about half of what it costs for a set of strings. Because it requires special tools to do properly, it's not something many players do themselves.

How often you have to re-hair largely depends on the strings. Play with silver gimped gut strings, and it's rather often. More often than the strings.

That said, these guys obviously have "special" bows with torn hair for the looks.

That one was going around a couple of years ago and I've greatly enjoyed it many, many times.
The imagery is rather entertaining.
What I never noticed before today was a 3rd cello clearly being played ... sonically but not visually.
I first noticed it around the 2:30 mark or so.
I guess since I don't know much about playing bowed instruments, even though I own a violin, I never really scrutinized the video before like I might do if there were guitarists and bassists and drummers.
Now that I'm looking at it in a different light, I think it may be possible there is other fakery going on there as well.
Doesn't change the entertainment value one little bit, though.
It's still a romper.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

Yeah, it does look familiar to me, I saw it on Facebook and thought I'd share it with you guys.
I don't know much (anything) about cellos myself, there could be things going on I don't understand but to me it doesn't matter, it's a supreme piece of entertainment.
The sheer 'shock and awe' of it is brilliantly achieved. :D

Thanks for posting that Rhumba, I saw those guys several years ago on Fremont st. downtown Vegas. they were at one of the festivals riding in the back of a pickup truck. I was totally amazed, they did covers of smooth Criminal, Led Zep and AC/DC. it was impressive.

They're fun... here they are doing a little AC/DC:

Named Stjepan Hauser & Luka Sulic, they're known as the 2Cellos.

From Croatia and Slovenia respectively, they are classically trained musicians coming from the Royal Academy of Music (London) and the Royal Northern College of Music (Manchester).

They've appeared on stage w/ Elton John and others, and have competed in several Classical Music compertitions around the World. They have an album out under the Menart name and are signed by the Sony Masterworks label.

Cheers!
