Really tempted to pull the trigger on this (if i can find it in stock again), but $219 seems steep.
I only have one other distortion pedal (blood drive that is really more like an overdive).
Would anyone think that's priced too high?

Thanks for posting the video. I can't tell what it really sounds like though. It is going to be up to you to tell us. As far as value, looks like you have some side by side comparison testing to do, have fun :D

The question is whether you're going to end up using it. If you'll use it daily for several years, the cost is negligible, even if it were twice that price. If it's just going to be one of many, well, you might find something else you might use more for the same money.

Then again, I'm not one to talk; my primary pedal, also a drive pedal, is a Spaceman Aphelion overdrive, which was even a tad more than the Supro. But because I use it so much, I think it was a good buy.

Also keep in mind that "Supro" isn't the same company as in the 1960s, or even the same as the revived company a few years ago. New owners, new products, no real heritage. Which might be a good thing, but nevertheless might be a gamble.
Any chance you can get to try the pedal before you buy?

Thats the problem with having a zillion drive pedals on the market......only those who have used many would probably recognize what may be good.

The safe route is to start with what has stood the test of time and can be found on countless pedal boards, like Fulltone OCD, Boss BD-2, or Ibanez TS-808 or TS-9.
Then venture out and buy something new every now and then if you can afford the risk, or borrow one if you can't.

One day you may end up with a ridiculously expensive Klon, Pete Cornish or Spaceman pedal, and love it to death. But it may be better if you first get some experience with others, so you can compare, and don't spend a fortune on something that isn't your style. What's good for me might not be good for you.

And, with drive pedals in particular, what amp you hook it up to changes the equation completely. One pedal can sound great with one amp (or even amp channel), and horrible with another.

I wouldn't be wasting my money on any pedal that needed such a multitracked, delayed and mixed down video to market it.
Says to me that the maker didn't think it sounded good enough on it's own to sell itself.

I've used the older version of this for years now. I recommend it to anyone. It's got the fastest bass response I've ever heard from a drive pedal. It works great as a preamp should you wish to just run it into a power amp or PA.
I do prefer the older version with 2 channels and solo boost function. But the smaller one whilst being cheaper sounds great as good as the bigger one.
It's about the same money>

That plexitone pedal is demo'd using amps more like mine (blues deville 212-handwired-clean channel), as opposed to the various Supro amps that the Supro drive pedal was demo'd on.
Will consider.

Fulltone Full-Drive 2 works well for my needs.

I recently bought an Acapulco Gold distortion pedal. It's made by Earthquaker Devices. It's supposed to emulate the sound of a cranked Sunn Model T amp. It has one knob. You find a spot you like, and use the guitars volume to control the input.
I'm not big on distortion, but what I get out of this pedal is very usable. That Supro pedal seems pretty usable to, but a bit tame compared to the Acapulco Gold.

Try it, honestly. It's well worth the effort. The older one, this one.

Image

Really is a thing of beauty. Yep it has a lot of treble and bass. I'd say it's more high mid shifted than lacking mids. What I really notice about it is the quality of sound. As said, I've gigged with that plugged straight into the venue sound system. In short, it sounds like a Marshall amp does. Something Marshall and just about every other pedal manufacturer has claimed to do and can't do, in a pedal. JTM to JCM sort of gain ranges.
I don't even mind having to use the wall plug. The 2 channels and lead volume boost are well worth that slight inconvenience.
If you just want to push your amp a bit harder. Then yeah something like the Fulltone works exceptionally well. The Suhr Riot is gorgeous too.
