Let me tell you about tact.

On Saturday, November 14 last year, I heard knocking at the door. I opened it, and outside were two guys. I said hello, and asked what I could help them with.
They asked whether I had heard what had just happened in France. Of course, I had heard - the Bataclan massacre was only hours old, and I had spent most of the night following the news, given that I have a friend in Paris.
I told them that I sincerely hoped that they weren't using that tragedy in order to try to sell me something. They told me that they were from Jehova's Witnesses, and that they had an answer for why things like this happened.
They were [expletive] trying to [expletive] use that [expletive] tragedy as an [expletive] selling point for their [expletive] religion!

Strike while the corpse is hot.

Tact.

So you are judging all members of a religion based on what 2 guys did?

I have seen many artists from the Four Tops to Sly Stone, B.B. King to Jimi. That is what I think about Prince. He was an old soul in a young mans body. He is missed. So sad.

Well, if we're going to question everything, did you actually listen to what they said...or did you jump to a conclusion based on your limited world view?

I probably know what they were going to say; I won't explain it here, due to the Forum rules against any type of "preaching" to others...

I will say this, however; in times of tragedy, some people find comfort in certain religious texts and discussions. That's why we speak to people, seeking out those who would like to have a civil* discourse or interchange of ideas, religious, philosophical or otherwise...we share things that have brought us comfort, hoping to comfort others. We do not exploit tragedies to "sell" anything (in fact, we "sell" nothing...our literature, our time and our conversations are free, and is done on a voluntary basis by those preaching...we don't have a paid clergy...we haven't charged for a magazine or book in over 25 years...we absorb the cost ourselves, as individuals and as congregations...we don't even pass a collection plate at our meetings!).

We hope to get people thinking about spiritual and scriptural things--whether they agree with us or not.

If scriptural or spiritual things are not comforting to you in times of tragedy--personal, local or international--politely saying, "I am not interested," will generally end the conversation.

But you assumed something without investigation of the real reason behind their effort. We are just trying to encourage people that things can--and will--get better.

I respect your right to believe differently than me...or to believe in nothing. You might try respecting others as well. You won't come so arrogantly.

*If you actually used those [deleted expletives] when those men came by, you obviously weren't going to be civil.

Perhaps, respect and being tolerate of others would be a wise direction to follow. For example, take Space exploration, and working in close quarters with those of different beliefs and opinions. I think we will all change our point of view when we meet our maker should that be the case.

Peace
FSB

One can prescribe each to his or her own senses, yet, in the end, that may not be possible. For now we have a choice, hopefully it will be a good one.

Space exploration has no need of the god hypothesis.

Come on Art. You are usually spot on or cleverly close. Here is where I have you. I believe in miracles, so do you otherwise you wouldn't be on a guitar Forum, the best no less lol.

The latest verdict:

The Minnesota judge has ruled:

29 claims for Prince's estate denied. 18 declined as claimed children. As for the other 11, some said that Prince was their father. Six people are to be genetically tested - three half-siblings and Tyka Nelson (Prince's sister). Tyka had filed that Prince had no will and none has been found so far. His sister and half-siblings stand to get the estate unless a will is found.

Watching news from the Twin cities (Minneapolis/St.Paul Minnesota).

Paisley Park is accepting a variety of applications for positions to run Prince's estate as a tour attraction. The same managing company that handles Graceland is doing the arrangement.
