I've been around for awhile, and I don't pay any attention to the HOF crap anymore. I've got better things to do in life, breathing is one, and listening to THE BEATLES is up there too.

Here it is and Steve Miller is golden as far as I'm concerned. He just stated some issues that are not helpful to the artists.

RnR and Country HOF is BS and it has been for a while... No need to mention Warren Zevon or Hank Williams...
It's all BS so I don't even bother watching, oh yeah and they (RnR HOF) "lost" Lemmy's Ace of Spades jacket...
All BS
They had it comming for a while, right on Mr Miller

Well, slightly off topic, but it was in the queue with the Steve Miller video, I thought Chicago sounded pretty good with their performance at the event. Who knows why Peter Cetera refused to show up? He was going to at one point but I guess backed out.

Maybe he had better things to do with his money than ponying up ten grand for a ticket......?

Yeah, no joke. :P That's insane to pay that much for that. Someone's making some money there, and I doubt it's the artists involved.

We need music awards and a museum from which to present and promote them in which the people vote (similar to People's Choice Awards). In order to not make the selections top heavy from any one category, or from any one generation, well selected categories should be chosen, and presented in advance. I'd also like to see a category where celebrity bands nominate and choose a worthy recipient that is not themselves. In short, give the fans control of the choices. I know that the artists would appreciate and embrace this, and, perhaps, they would contribute to the success of such a museum with fan participation.

While we're at it let's call it a Rock museum. After all, Rock has many genres with the future bringing more to come. You can have Rock without Roll. But, Alan Freed would likely have told you that you need Roll to have Rock and Roll (just like you need grunge for Grunge and rap for Rap, Rhythm and Blues for R&B . . . which also has, for the some part, R&R . . . and so on). While it is possible to have R&R with another genre added be it classical, jazz, rap, or other . . . the additional genres are not always R&R by themselves. I suppose the same could be said for Country Rock with Rap. Rap by itself is not necessarily Country. Although, rare Beatnik Beat recordings can have a similarity to Rap there is no way to confuse the difference as they are distinct from each other.

Alan Freed is credited with coining the phrase Rock and Roll and, along with an accent on the off beat, it is said Freed came up with the R&R idea from "My Daddy Rocks Me From One Steady Roll" 1938 which, for me says it all. YMMV.

Crossovers, however are a whole other matter.
Just my 2 cents. 8)
Rock On, Steve.
Good on ya.IMHO
