Still not quite there yet. I failed emissions because of the old gas in the tank. It was rotten and emitting toxic smog. Even if it fails again, I got a guy who'll give me a pass.

Hopefully this coming Monday the steering/suspension and brake work will begin.

I've got custom plates coming soon too. "YOTSUBA" - a Japanese word that commonly refers to the number 4 and the color green, most commonly referring to a 4 leaf clover and other 4 bladed plants.

CV boots, brakes and tires installed yesterday. Waiting on my mechanic friend to show up on our day off so we can tear into the suspension work.

The CV boots were probably the least fun and most time consuming part in terms of actual time spent working on it.

Hopefully be done today.

Suspension work is completed. I've been using the vehicle as my daily since Monday.

I'm in a mechanic class paid for by NTB and I've volunteered my vehicle for the fluids portion, meaning I'll hopefully be able to get a free coolant, brake, and transmission flush.

I failed the safety inspection, because as the car was getting aligned, the passenger brake light decided to burn out  I can't change it until I fix the motor in the back window, which is what is coming next. The mechanic doing the inspection said it would pass based on the work I've already done to it.

After the back window is fixed, I'll proceed with caution into the interior resto.

As the truck sits, it's probably worth $4500 or so on a good day. I'm only in it for $1800 give or take $50-$75.

Its a doll on the interstate tbh. No funky vibrations, no funny sht, just a good driving truck.

The SR5 driver seat is the most comfortable car seat I've ever sat in. Probably the most configurable too.

Alright, so I'm going to rebuild the throttle body and EGR systems tomorrow. Looks like it's back to the Camry for now... :x

Thanks, for the great photo and updates, James. That truck of yours obviously means business. All your hard work and that of your friends is paying off. Nice. :D

Found a fog light kit on sale for $20, so I think I'm gonna have a little fun wiring it and the switch up.

Fog lights are a great choice for off road, James. Fog lights have been on all my vehicles, and they give that extra attention on the highway, off-road, and in crappy weather IMHO. Besides, they look cool. 8)

A word of caution though, should you decide on any other extra off-road lighting. That overhead, bush bar, extra backup or great looking magazine lighting is prone to work for and sometimes against you with or without a beefier alternator. Depending on your journey, there are a slew of places, especially amongst states and provinces, that have strict enforcement for and against these trick running lights. Some places simply ask that they be covered on and/or off public roadways. Other variances are out there, and it can even include confiscation.

I know this because I once got a great deal on a matching fibreglass cabriolet stock lighting bar with wiring, only to unload it before the install when I discovered that the local law was extremely strict and costly to protect endangered species from the over poaching going on. I guess what I'm saying is that your backyard may not play well with the neighbour's. Then again if it works for you, awesome YMMV.

Cheers!
FSB

I'm just gonna put em on and tell em suckit. I'm gonna put them in the middle, not quite next to eachother, I'd say right past the headlights.

Besides, I'm only gonna use em for $@!& weather. I plan on pulling people when the weather goes bad.
