Thanks!!

Reassembly May not take place today. We got snow this morning and have had pretty heavy rains on and off.

We've had similar crappy weather in Rhode Island.

Bitter cold, but dry today. Have the pump paired with the reservoir, gonna wait on my coworker to reassemble the brackets and pulley, he has the pulley nut in his toolbox atm.

Might install today

What would you say is the ratio out of 100% you have done for the whole project?

As of tonight, I'd say about 35%

Got too dark for us to continue in the parking lot.

Timing case is reassembled, now we're about halfway there.

With my tax return being bigger than I thought, I have a larger budget, and that's after making a savings bond for my daughter, giving my woman a cut of the child claim, investing in the stock market, and paying a friend back.

For a full shifter assembly, and a full set of new seats, it'll be $344 and some change. The headliner is trash, so I think I'm going to go with a custom patterned headliner. I'll be making a trip to the fabric store and taking a look. I want to find a dark green paisley that matches the paint. I'm also considering Navajo blanket type $@!&, but I'm not sure. It's a tossup at this point.

With the extra money, I'll be able to wrap the rims in BFG KO2s, 31×10/R15, it'll probably be around $500, rather than $335 for Coopers. I think it's worth it, given the quality difference from a tire made by Michelin. Along with that, I'll be getting new lug nuts because the old ones aren't made for the type of rim I now have. I'll also ve replacing the missing center caps.

The gas tank door is a replacement door and it's made of plastic, so I'll be replacing that too. Someone popped it open and stole the gas cap, so I replaced that this morning.

I think I'll aslo upgrade the exhaust at this point because I want to anyways. I was thinking Magnaflow, but I'm open to recommendations.

I'll be purchasing a new radiator as well as hoses and new power steering lines.

I'm very pleased with the way things are going. I think I'll be wrapping things up mid may if I get all of my parts together in a timely manner. I can't wait to share pics/video of it. It's gonna be a great truck when done.

So these are the center caps and these are the lugs I'm thinking. I'll probably get wheel locks as well. I may just go full $@! and put all star tuner lugs. I don't know yet.

I'm also thinking vinyl flooring. A full setup with padding and complete wheel wells and back is only about $250. I figured i wouldn't put carpet back in because it's almost the same price as vinyl for new carpet, and within 6 months it'll be stained black because of my job. And i figure it'll probably be better for wet and winter weather.

Alright guys, I'm back for a quick update:

Engine work is complete, all put back together, no overheating, exhaust work is done. No more leaks, though it still Sounds really gritty from the piping I used. It even sounds gritty with the cat installed.

I bought all the parts. Moog pitman/idler arms, DW and moog tie rods (DW inner, moog outer), CV boot kits, and brakes (napa gold), 3 replacement lug studs, and the big boys, BFG Long Trail TA Tours in 265/70/15. I'll be going whitewalls out.

I'll be going in on my days off and working with the mechanic who has guided me so far.

Also, a side note: I found a nice $@! toolbox for $150. Husky Limited Edition Silver 5 drawer. The only thing I don't like are the casters. They feel cheap and they even have dorky $@! hubcaps on them. I'll probably replace them when they bother me enough.

Another side note: I was driving home Sunday and found a toolbox loaded with Craftsman sockets and wrenches on the side of the road. I'm guessing I got around $250 worth of sockets for free. The only catch is that the toolbox was filled with murky, muddy water and rotten leaves. I'm guessing it sat in a creek for a year. The sockets were disgustingly corroded, but I cleaned them all with the parts cleaner at work and steel wool.

I was going to go with KO2s, but I mulled it over for a couple weeks and decided the long trails are better. Though they're wider, they're cheaper, have better treadwear, run quieter and smoother and are better on gas. When I eventually get a rear mounted spare kit, I'll buy a 5th one just to flex a little bit on the road.

Looks like you're winning the uphill battle, and that's great, James. Your project looks to be a winner. Great updates. Looking forward to your completion so you can have some good times on the trails. :D

My experience: I had mounted my spare on the rear door swing bar; but, after having a soft cover on the spare, I'm not certain that I would cover it again. Dirt got into the wheel cover, and made it like a tumbler that scored the identical spare wheel. That's not to say it can't work, it just didn't for me. YMMV.
