OK, I have been spending quite a bit of time watching VH1 Classic the past week or so. They have been playing Poison. I'm starting to like it. Any advice on a decent album?

I used to love those dudes back in the day when I was in middle school. I'd say start with their second album, "Open Up and Say...Ahh!" I haven't heard that stuff in 20 years!

I recently dusted off "Hollyweird" and listened to C.C. Deville tear it up on guitar.

The Best of Poison came out like two years ago also they made an album called Crack a Smile that was good.

Man, I hated the 80's hair bands! All you needed to make it as a guitarist were a makeup kit, a spandex jump suit, and a chorus pedal. I will admit that there were a handfull of really talented people. My all time favorite 80's game was keeping track of the spins by counting the white flashes from Kip Winger's ultra-shiny teeth.

Not usually mine either. I have been listening to a wide range of music lately with the VH1 Classic stuff. And I'm starting to want to listen to more.

During the late 70's, the 80's and early 90's I listened to 2 kinds of music: Country and Western. That was it. So I missed all this stuff when it was new.

Seems as I have gotten older my tast in music has just grown. As I typing this I am listening Buck Owens 21#1 Hits Album. I just like music of many different styles. Before Buck Owens I was listening to Great White's Great Zeppelin Tribute Album.

Speaking of heavy blues, you gotta give "Sweet Tea" by Buddy Guy a listen.

Man, that is one HEAVY blues CD.

Hey Chet,

I remember Poison very well. Every Rose Has Its Thorns... They had some fun tunes, but I wouldn't listen to them today. They were right there with WASP, Cinderella, Motley Crue and the like.

But then I was not listening to Country Western back then like you were, so perhaps you could offer some of those classics.

I'll confess, Poison's Look What the Cat Dragged In was the very first cassette tape I ever bought. It hit right when I was in 7th grade and honestly, at that age, it was hard to beat!
