Sorry guys but, I love AC/DC , especially the albums with Bon Scott. If this is true then, Marc Storace would be a great replacement IMO. He has that Bon Scott tone with his voice.

I know a lot of people lean towards "Highway To Hell", but to me "Let There Be Rock" and (especially) "Powerage" were two of the best hard rock albums of all time ... and the best work AC/DC ever did ... in my humble opinion (both Bon Scott-era albums)

This story is the train wreck that I just can't look away from...

So, now Axl Rose is going to front AC/DC???

http://www.msn.com/en-us/music/news/axl-rose-to-front-ac-dc-report/ar-BBqR5b2?ocid=ansmsnent11

Honestly, I have not been a big fan of AC/DC since Bon died. Similar to Jeffo, I had everything Bon did with them, but I never caught on with Brian Johnson even though he went on to sell way more albums than they did with Bon Scott. I did see them a few times with Brian (never with Bon) as they put on a great show.

Axl Rose? Angus would probably die from old age by the time he comes out on stage to perform. :P

After weeks of rumors, Guns N’ Roses’ Axl Rose has finally been confirmed as the new frontman of AC/DC, taking over Brian Johnson's role for the remainder of their scheduled tour dates.

Brian Johnson, who has sung for the band since 1980 when he replaced the deceased Bon Scott, is stepping down due to instruction from doctors regarding potentially permanent hearing loss.

Though Rose initially announced a collaborative effort with AC/DC, it seemed as though nothing had been followed through on — until now. A statement from the band confirms: "We are dedicated to fulfilling the remainder of our touring commitments to everyone that has supported us over the years, and are fortunate that Axl Rose has kindly offered his support to help us fulfill this commitment."

Rose will be fronting AC/DC for the band’s remaining shows on this year’s tour, but it is unclear whether Rose will be permanently replacing Johnson as the AC/DC frontman. Rose will also continue to perform with the reformed Guns N' Roses on their extensive US tour.

Yeah, everyone's been pitching a $@!&* about this. You'd think with all of that negativity, that Guns and Roses ever became popular in the first place. :P

Axl? Damn talk about being desperate! So is this Axl's fall back position when he pisses off the rest of the guys in Guns n Roses?

Agree this is all a train wreck!

I heard a short clip today of Axl Rose (no relation) singing with AC/DC this morning, and I didn't think it sucked.
Mind you, it was on the clock radio and I was half asleep.
Also, I'm not particularly a fan of G'n'R nor AC/DC.

Axl Rose does have a great voice and can sing in many different styles, I give him that.
I'm just not sure he's such a good match for AC/DC. But then again, who is, unless there are some more Youngs that can crawl out of Scotland or Australia?

Actually ... (being honest here) ... it is starting to make sense. This could breath some new life in the band. I am warming up to the idea. Also, there is word hey are bringing "Dog Eat Dog" into the set. That would be cool to see.

Keep in mind that how high and low a person can go says nothing about the accuracy, articulation, timbre or other talents required by singing.
Thinking that higher range is better is like thinking a 7-string 24-fret guitar is better than a 6-string 22-fret one. Or that a mediocre keyboard player like me would do better on an 88-key keyboard than Rick Wakeman would on a 61-key one.

It's one metric, and valid, but it tells only a tiny part of the story.

As for how it relates to AC/DC, well, most AC/DC songs are high up, but only about an octave wide in the tenor range. Early songs have a very limited range, and Brian Johnson who started out by mostly singing Bon Scott songs followed the tradition, with songs that are instantly recognizable as AC/DC.
So Axl Rose's range might not be utilized much.

But perhaps his articulation can help. AC/DC is near the top of the charts for misheard lyrics, with gems like "Dirty jeans, dungarees" and "Thirty thieves and the Thunder Chief".

We'll see.
