The new bassbreaker series seems to be very interesting. After playing/gigging with a Princeton Rec. Amp for a couple of years , I've started dreaming of a Vox AC 15 or 30 - for the variation of the sound . And - I miss that 12" speaker feel and sound. Suddenly this Bassbreakers pop up - and it looks like they can fix all those wishes. Both the 15 and the 18/30 looks interesting. Anyone tried them ?

I see nothing about these amps which alludes to classic Fender. To me it seems like the plan was to create something new, inexpensive, slap a Fender badge on it and sell a bunch of them to people seeking something at a lower price point.

What kind of sound are you seeking, and size of amp?

Anyway , I'm going to keep the Princeton to get that Fender sound. It has also taught me that it is not necessary with a very loud amp, as long as there are possibilities for miking it up.
When it comes to sound , I mainly want something british-like , Vox / Marshall. Seems like those
Bassbreakers can handle that.

I have played the 007 model, and I liked it very much--if I had the money (I don't) and the need (don't really have that, either) I would get one of those.

Excellent British amp sounds, sweet, classy looks and decent price. Louder than it's wattage suggests.

Let us know what you end up doing...

I haven't had a chance yet to play one, but in case you haven't seen it, here's a nice demo of the Bassbreaker 45 wherein he gets the Marshall and the Fender sound by using the volume control on his strat.
Sounds very good...

Visiting your Dad and grandson for Easter - sounds perfect 8)
Happy Easter, my friend....

The power scaling on the 45 seems to suffer from the same problem as all other power scaling amps I have seen - the bass suffers. You still get the break-up, but you don't move enough air on the bass side, so it sounds shrill.

My fave of the Bassbreakers have to be the 18/30, because it has two separate and very different pre-amp circuits, giving a lot of flexibility for a low cost.

And yes, low cost seems to be the selling point of these. They are clearly made to look like (reversed color scheme, but otherwise very similar), have some of the same valves as, and have a name like Bluesbreakers, but without being bankbreakers.

The only thing that worries me is the build quality. I haven't seen inside one, so I can't tell how serviceable it is, or how well made. Time will tell, but I'm a bit reluctant to be a guinea pig, much as I want an 18/30.

Thank you . About equal to my own thoughts , except I'm not as worried about the power scaling. Just take it for what it is .... Cheers !

One thing that I can add to this discussion:

I recently went to the Experience Hendrix concert where there were multiple guitarists, most of whom were playing Fender amps.

Eric Johnson was using a vintage Marshall stack, and I'm not sure what Zakk Wylde was using, but the majority of the artists were using Fender amps of various ages, sizes, wattages, and speaker configurations.

Buddy Guy used a Bassbreaker. It sounded amazing...I believe it was the 45 watt model, but I wasn't able to look at that closely at the unit. It definitely wasn't one of the smaller (007 or 15 watt) models.

Anyway, I was impressed with the sound of the Bassbreaker--it easily attained that "vintage Buddy Guy" sound, (duh, that's who was using it...I've heard him get that tone out of a Bassman, a Marshall, and a couple other types of amps, Lol)...but it was the first time I had seen a Bassbreaker in a gig or concert situation, so I thought you might find that bit of information interesting.

You might see if there is any footage from any of those shows online so you can hear it in action.

I have had any Bassbreaker experience, but I've had the ball breaking kind, especially hauling my Rumble 350 combo up and down a couple flights of stairs for that radio show I did. Hey, at least I kept it Fender-related. :P

Very interesting, indeed ! It was not easy to find any footage showing the amp , but I found a couple of vids on Youtube where one can see (and hear !) the Bassbreaker , but neither could I find out which one it was. As you say- it's probably the 45. Thank you , SA ! 8)

Ahaha ! So you appeared on radio ? Cool ! Last weekend I was playing a gig , and had to handle several amps and stuff (Not famous nor rich - so no roadies ) Actually we now use my old Rumble 100 for bass , these days (since our bassplayer quitted some months ago)- so three of us are sharing the bass parts now. Yesterday we had a combined rehearsal/party in my house- then we had to carry those amps around again- up and down the stairs to the first floor :P :?

Yeah, the Rumble 350 combo weighs 65 pounds, probably because it's MDF. At least the new Rumble 500 combo is about half of that. My 18" speaker cab with a Celestion or 2x10" cab I have with my Orange head weigh less than that amp, but they are compact and plywood. It can get heavy to hump the stairs, but it does sound good.
