My son and I got a couple of headphone amplifiers for a trip and we like them. Here's a mini review:

Vox Amplug AC30. This one is very small and the unit plugs directly into the guitar. You then use earbuds to listen. You can also plug your MP3 player into it to play jam tracks. This amp is cool and I will use it at home because it is so good and so convenient. I really like this thing. The sound is great. The controls are tone, volume, and gain. I recommend it to anybody looking for a small headphone amp for personal listening. Contrary to other reviews I've read, you can get a distorted rock sound from it by tweaking the gain and tone on the amp, and the controls on your Strat. I tried using full-size headphones with this amp and the amp doesn't have enough power to play them very loud. But with ear buds it works great.

Marshall MS2 mini amp. Costs about the same as the Vox, but not nearly as convenient to use. But in compensation, it has a speaker so you can listen either with headphones or with the built in speaker. The speaker sounds like a 1960s transistor radio, very tinny and I don't like it at all. But it is functional and does allow you to play for somebody. When used with headphones it sounds great. It does have the Marshall sound then. The controls are similar to the Vox controls, but you have the option of clean or distorted. My son likes to play with this one because he likes rock. You also need a guitar cable to play with this amp. Overall it's a good product. But if you need a mini amp with a speaker that sounds good, research other products before buying this one.

I've been using a Smokey Amp. It made into a cigarette box. It rocks! It has a built in speaker and you can also drive a 4x12 cabinet with it! And of course you can use headphones too...

Check 'em out:

Hey Secret,

I just watched that Smokey Amp Demo.
What fun.
Now I'll be able to play
my axe to work.

My kids are gonna get me one, I hope.

Luckily enough they're made in green.

Cheers
