Does anyone know if Mike McCready is playing a Strat for the actual recording of Alive? The solo sounds amazing but not sure if he is using his strat when it was recorded.

If I remember all the articles I read about them during that time, I believe he was just using primarily Strats, and a Tele every now and then, for most of the work on the first Pearl Jam album and the Temple of the Dog album.

he played a strat on most of the lead work on the first album, and alive is on a strat, how ever, he uses a lp alot. I read in a gp articale, they have a whole ware house with just there guitars in it, each color coded and which album(s) and wahat songs they are used on. He is a great and imo underated player!

No idea but the guys in Pearl Jam sure do have a lot of guitars. My buddy had (it got jammed and shredded in a machine) an old VHS tape compilation with the (I suppose) best renditions of each of their songs from a variety of gigs and almost every song they were totting different axes.

Oh and I just have to say..

Yellow Ledbetter is an absolutely incredible song. It was one of the songs that made me want to play guitar, and now after 2 years of playing I've got it dialed in well enough to play with my eyes closed. It sounds incredible on my strat too, with the wonderful chime a strat's single coil brings. Now all I have to do is work out how to lead it straight into Little Wing like Mike McCready does..

I just love the tone he puts off with his strat.
