'Bout the same; staying around. Do family stuff, play a little music, play a Mass, read, yard stuff, maybe write, draw, bicycle, paint.

Be real grateful for what was initiated and carried off by some incredible people, 232 years ago. And bled and sacrificed for, since.

But y' know what; some time down the road, 'wanna sit down for a heavenly brew with George III and his prime minister and heads of Parliment and listen to them lament about not making nice and patching things up with George and Ben and Tom and John and...

...instead of effing up the biggest political decision in modern recorded history and pooping-off a freaking CONTINENT.

Happy weekend, all.

I'm just going to the beach and play guitar when I get home . . . unless it rains. Then, I'll just play guitar.

Hey, does anyone know if the forum will be open on the 4th? I suspect not, but I'm not sure.

Tonight my son and I are going to the Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs game (AAA baseball) and watch what they're calling "3D Fireworks" afterwards.

Updating myself: Heavy storms rolled through the area and stopped the game in the top of the 3rd. After a 2-hour rain delay, they called the game. No 3-D Fireworks. :(

Happy Independence Day to all the Americans here!

We are gonna BBQ and light off a whole slew of fireworks tonight! It is going to be great!

One funny 4th of July story for you all:

In 1989, I was stationed in Norway at a NATO base there in Kolsaas, just south west of Oslo. I usually hung out with the Brits. Don't know why, they were just a lot more fun over there. Anyway, it was the 4th and there were three Americans, and 5 of my Brit buddies drinking decent quantities of Danish beer (very good stuff by the way!).

So, we all staggered to Frogner Park in downtown Oslo, where the American Embassy is throwing a huge party. The Ohio State Marching Band is there as well as all these dignitaries and generals, admirals and stuff. So here the 8 of us come to crash the party.

Now, we weren't really crashing, it was open to the public. Anyway, we sidled up to where the band had laid their instruments under this very large and shady pavilion. We were laying on the grass, consuming some of Denmark's finest when the band started to return to the pavilion. One of the Brits, Dave, starts tapping a tune out on one of the drums. Softly at first then gaining in volume he starts to sing "God Save The Queen". At the end of it, he was belting it out at the top of his voice.

Needless to say, we were rolling! At the end of the song, the whole of the Ohio State band gave Dave a standing ovation. After which he proclaimed in his broad Birmingham(Brumy) accent "Well, you couldn't have a !@#$ing Independence Day with out us !@#$ing Brits now, could ya?"

Needless to say, it was one 4th of July I will never forget.

So, Happy Independence Day to my British brethren too!
