This caught my eye. A new line of Fender acoustic guitars with Fishman electronics, called the Paramount line. Made in China with a list of $999. It must be pretty nice for that price. It has an ebony FB, which I like. I also like Fishman products. So, I'm going to remember to seek one of these out to test.

My T-Bucket 300CE has a Fishman preamp and it's really sounds great. Also, the built-in tuner is incredibly convenient.

Based on my experiences with older Fender acoustics and looking at what I have now, it's apparent that Fender has put a lot of thought into how they can repair that "Fender acoustics are crap" reputation. The T-Bucket also came with Graphtech Tusq nut and saddles. IMO it's a lot of bang for your buck.

It does seem that Fender has stepped it up in the acoustics game now that Guild is gone. Then again, I had a Fender I got for $40 new at a swap meet that was great for a low end guitar. The guitar is still being used 25 years after I got it. Not bad for a cheap guitar.

These new ones are going for around $700 with case. IMHO, they do offer a pretty good standing for themselves for a guitar in that price break.

The retailer that sent me the initial link, was pricing the one I posted a picture of at $999. They had another model that was cheaper, but I like the cut away for those special acoustic shredding moments!

I had previously read about them in Fender's site and I agree with you, Drew.

From what I read, without having tried one, and knowing FMIC's resources and history, Fender appears to be going in a progressive direction with acoustics worthy of Fender's reputation. IMHO.

Certainly worth a checkout. 8)

Coincidence. 5 min ago I was just checking out a vid on youtube of this one. I was amazed by the sound and the look of it - reminds me to make a visit to the local guitarshop tomorrow :-)
 -though I know that that visit might set me back some $$

I'm not too sure about that, at least not for the higher end stuff. Gone is the acoustic custom shop in Connecticut, and American made acoustic Fender guitars. Until 2012, there was at least one series made in USA, and mid-range models made in Indonesia. In earlier times, other countries too.

But now, for acoustics, FMIC stands for Fender Made In China. For some, this does not matter, but for others, it does affect the perception of quality.

A $1000 is a lot of money for a chi-com guitar and Fenders reputation for poor to mediocre acoustic guitars gives them a tough row to hoe even if these are quality guitars.

I was at a GC tonight. They said it would be a couple of months before they get any of these in.

IMO, Fender's acoustics have never gotten the respect which I've felt they deserve. I own both, a DG-60 and a CD-60-CE in Mahogany and they are both great sounding instruments.

I have two Fender acoustics--an F250 and an F270CE. Both made in Korea (!) in the mid-1980's. Both have excellent playability, and the F250 has a big, beautiful, rich, ringing tone...(the F270CE plays well, but the tone is slightly less noteworthy than the F250; it has a cutaway and a *meh* piezo pickup to make it more usable). Tuning stability is awesome on both.

(They're in the foreground of this outdated harem picture)...

An acquaintance who is a notorious Brand Snob/Headstock Jerk/Country-of-Origin Upstart condescended to play my F250, and both of us were surprised--he was surprised that it played and sounded good, I was surprised he admitted it! He said, "If I didn't know any better, I would think this is a mid-level Martin!"
He almost passed out when he "sniffed the cork" (looked at the label on the inside) and saw the words "Made in Korea". It killed him to find out I paid less than $200 for it, when it was almost new. He begrudgingly admitted it is a great instrument, in spite what it is.

Fender has made some good acoustics over the years (or at least has put their name on someone else's construction)...

I think their poor reputation is unfair. There are diamonds and turds in the same group of instruments, you just gotta look for the diamonds.
