I keep my amp covered when not in use but I was wondering if it`s ok to cover it right after using it or should I wait awhile and let the amp cool off before putting the cover back on . I have a `63 Princeton and a new G-Dec 30. Thanks in advance for any help.

For tube amps, I'd definitely let it cool down a bit before covering. I don't know if you have to really worry about that for solid state though...

I never cover my tube amps until there cool. AC30 and Budda Superdrive get very hot.

Personally I would let any amp cool off before I covered it.

'Agree; don't cover a hot amp if at all possible. When you un-gig, turn it off ASAP and make it the last thing you cover / move.

A little off topic but I was never told if there was a benefit to covering a amp. I usually play my BJ everyday. If it will help it long term I will buy one. Thanks guys!

Thank you all for taking the time to answer my question. From now on I`ll make sure the amp has plenty of time to cool down before I cover it.

I just try to do it whenever I can to avoid dust and/or smoke from getting in them, but other than that, I am not sure what any benefits may be, so if there are any other benefits to covering, please share them...

The only reason I cover my amps is to keep them dust free.

I don't and haven't covered amps for many years now, (many got torn up or lost in transit between gigs) but when I did, I'd wait until it cooled down.

I have lost two of them in the last year or so and they were Tuki Covers wont but those expensive ones anymore.

The only reason I cover my amps is so I don't accidentally turn the knobs when I transport them.
